Recently there has been a wave of vandal attacks, in my area on weekend nights, large groups of teenagers roaming the streets, swarming convenience stores, stealing, destroying property and even throwing bricks at police cars.

Other than that and the hookers and drug addicts and shootings, Baltimore is a really cool town.

Buying land in Carthage might've been a bad idea.

Is anyone else getting a mildly racist/classist vibe here from the headline, or is it just me?

It's the south, no one has any class.

//yes it's classist.

well at least the guys pushing this aren't trying the "curfews lower teen crime" line (which, considering that most teen crime occurs between 3 and 6 p.m. isn't even in the same ballpark when the crime is being considered).  That said, while I appreciate trying to get teens a good night sleep for learning, considering the fact that there are these mini video game arcades being sold known as "x-boxes" and "playstations" -- I could be wrong with the terminology -- that people have in their homes and don't have to go out on the streets at 10 p.m. at night to play, this might not be the idea.

I was headed to the train one night at about midnight when a group of kids on BMX bikes rolled up on me and I was pretty sure one would pull a gun and I would get robbed but it turned out they just wanted to know if I was there to buy weed or coke.

If you are getting any vibe like that, I think it means you are the racist (this is my understanding of how the new racism works).

At 3 o'clock in the morning, in front of a project, in a f**king limousine. This was not good. I was like, "I gotta look around, find some landmarks, see if I can figure out where I'm at. I might have to escape on foot." Now this is when I know I'm in a bad neighborhood, you only see this in the worst neighborhoods. Remember, this was 3 o'clock in the morning. I looked out the window, and there was a f**king baby standing on the corner. And the baby didn't even look scared, he was just standing there. And it made me sad you know, because I wanted to help the baby. I was like, "Mm mm I don't trust you either!" Click! Cllllick! The old baby-on-the-corner trick, eh? Not gonna fall for that s**t. But where is this limousine driver?" As time goes by I start feeling worse, I was like, "What the hell is wrong with me, I'm scared of a baby! But this baby could be in trouble, he may need my help. I gotta do something." But I wasn't gonna get out of the car. I'm serious, man. I just cranked the window open a little bit. "Hey baby! Baby, go home, man! It's 3 o'clock in the morning man, what the f**k are you doing up?" The baby says, "I'm selling weed, nubian!"

Considering the topic is Baltimore, the headline almost counts as reparations.  I grew up in the far suburbs of the city and man, yuck.

My mother's family is from Baltimore, needless to say no one lives anywhere near the city anymore as the whole place has just gone to hell, if you want to know more about why you can ask Nancy Pelosi about her father.

Anyway, we went once when I was a kid to an old church in the bad part of the city, my mother's father's family is buried in the churchyard. The church and graveyard were surrounded by a ten foot fence, and you had to be buzzed in. One very terrified elderly nun was in charge of the whole place. When we went to place graves on our family's old plot it was clear that the fence had not deterred all the vandals. There were graves knocked over and graffiti. The sister told us that she locks herself in at night and doesn't dare leave, because of all the shouting and fighting she hears every night.

That's not a bad area, but near some not so great ones.

We had a brief stint of something similar in Mt Vernon a few years ago when I lived in that area. I was at the neighborhood association meeting when it was discussed. Just bored teens - it stopped once the police started stoping and talking to them. It wasn't as fun when you could get in trouble.

Same kind of shiat happened in the rural town I grew up in once or twice too. Teenagers are assholes.

This kind of presumes that all houses have air conditioning.  In the summer in a brick row-house in Baltimore without AC (this is pretty much everywhere in the ghetto) it would be intolerable to be locked up inside at 9:00pm.  That building will still be as hot as an oven - only a crazy person or a prisoner would stay inside.

They do that in St. Pete too.  I want to tell the ones wearing black shirts that they need to improve their marketing.  Visibility is key.

Used to live in Little Italy...the area from there to Canton is chalk full of hipsters who walk to Perkins Projects to buy weed (not the good kind, though).  Fun times, fun times.

I remember a July-Baltimore-Orioles Game.  Under the deck, no air moving.  Nobody buying beer; they sold out of lemonade by the 3rd inning.  At least Fla. has an occasional ocean breeze, Baltimore in the summer can be insufferable.

Went to school in Baltimore and had the misfortune of running into one of these kid-mobs running through Mt. Vernon. They were tearing bikes off of the back of a car stopped at a traffic light and as they ran by one of them punched me in the side of the head just for kicks. Luckily he wasn't that big so it didn't knock me down. It probably hurt his hand a lot more than my head as I have a thick skull.

When there's a mob of them, there's really not a lot police can do so I totally understand this measure.

Well since curfews are illegal,,,,,, enjoy your lawsuits Mr/Mrs Mayor dumbass.

/It is discrimination to subject a specific part of people to curfews that are based on 1 or 2 bad people doing all the bad stuff.
//Black people still not allowed to vote in White people Districts(via Gerrymandering).
///People going to the pankake house on Sunday morning make me have to wait for a table, so lets get a curfew against church layabouts hogging up the place after praying to the almighty dollar.

Juvenile curfews are not illegal, soooo there's that. There are all sorts of things juveniles can't do - vote, drink alcohol, work certain amounts of time, etc. Additionally, I don't believe the law said anything like "curfew only applies to black children" so I don't see why you turned it into a race issue. Plus, the mayor of Baltimore and councilman proposing the measure are both black.

So yah, your post is completely wrong. What's that like?

No they aren't.  By definition, if they are the law, they are legal.

Age is only a protected class for old people, not young people.

You should return your mail order law degree.
