Let's get this out of the way before the Potato Brigade comes derping in. Embassy attacks under the Bush administration:

January 22, 2002. Calcutta, India. Gunmen associated with Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami attack the U.S. Consulate. Five people are killed.
June 14, 2002. Karachi, Pakistan. Suicide bomber connected with al Qaeda attacks the U.S. Consulate, killing 12 and injuring 51.
October 12, 2002. Denpasar, Indonesia. U.S. diplomatic offices bombed as part of a string of "Bali Bombings." No fatalities.
February 28, 2003. Islamabad, Pakistan. Several gunmen fire upon the U.S. Embassy. Two people are killed.
May 12, 2003. Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Armed al Qaeda terrorists storm the diplomatic compound, killing 36 people including nine Americans. The assailants committed suicide by detonating a truck bomb.
July 30, 2004. Tashkent, Uzbekistan. A suicide bomber from the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan attacks the U.S. Embassy, killing two people.
December 6, 2004. Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Al Qaeda terrorists storm the U.S. Consulate and occupy the perimeter wall. Nine people are killed.
March 2, 2006. Karachi, Pakistan again. Suicide bomber attacks the U.S. Consulate killing four people, including U.S. diplomat David Foy who was directly targeted by the attackers. (I wonder if Lindsey Graham or Fox News would even recognize the name "David Foy." This is the third Karachi terrorist attack in four years on what's considered American soil.)
September 12, 2006. Damascus, Syria. Four armed gunmen shouting "Allahu akbar" storm the U.S. Embassy using grenades, automatic weapons, a car bomb and a truck bomb. Four people are killed, 13 are wounded.
January 12, 2007. Athens, Greece. Members of a Greek terrorist group called the Revolutionary Struggle fire a rocket-propelled grenade at the U.S. Embassy. No fatalities.
March 18, 2008. Sana'a, Yemen. Members of the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic Jihad of Yemen fire a mortar at the U.S. Embassy. The shot m ...

Why do you hate America? Why don't you just leave already? Patriotic Americans don't question the President! We stand behind the President and the troops. Only commie, unPatriotic traitors like you hate America and freedoms!

Gyrfalcon: So is Obama being blamed yet?

Why would he be blamed? He already said the war on terrorism is over. These are just people clinging to their guns and religion in order to embarass him

Anyway, like I said - if it took a black face in the white house to get all you good patriots to see how much America's foreign policy has sucked for the last seventy years, it's all good - as long as you finally get it.

that would be a helluva lot of cameltoe

Curious: marius2: The Taliban just directly email CNN now?

cool isn't it. man war sure has changed with this asymmetrical stuff. first you have the physical attack then the PR follow up.

sad really, we don't seem to have learned shiat either watching the soviets or all the years we've been there. and yet the taliban who we consider third world rag tag no accounts have fought us to a draw in afghanistan in 12 years.

The sad thing is, people really believe this. The Soviets lost 7 times as many troops as we have, in four fewer years of occupation. When the bad guys are fighting only other Afghans, and getting slaughtered every time they do, that's not a draw. This is a red-on-green war, and green is winning. Blue is just coaching at this point.

I sound fat: Why wouldnt our enemies feel emboldened?

Let's ask their leader.

But I understand why you'd feel that way. After all...

I didn't know they still published articles about deaths in Afghanistan when there were no US casualties. Or, are they considering the gate to the consulate to be a US casualty?

Nothing to see here. Clearly this is because of some hateful internet video and not terrorism related.

consulate = benghazi = obama

it's simply a keyword trigger for the rabid right now.

Joke's on you, then, because this patriotic neocon favors military intervention... just not the way Obama would do it.

/the goal of war should never be to put on a big show of 'Murica's virtues that makes the citizens feel good about themselves
//and definitely shouldn't be to maintain "the moral high ground," because that's always the first place that becomes a mass grave in any military action
///we should have kicked both Assad's and the rebels' asses, and locked down the whole nation of Syria until every last CW and tool used to manufacture it was accounted for and removed

so the soviets lose 7 times as many troops in less time and left. USA USA. my point is we seem to have learned nothing from their experience. and now in 12 years we have what? total control of all of afghanistan? well no not really. do NGOs move freely about the country? do young girls skip down the street on their way home from school? i won't go on. you can claim we or the afghanistans are winning but it's a narrow victory against what amounts to tribal warlords.

yes that's the nature of asymmetrical warfare but that we (or our surrogates) are fighting it means we lost the fight for hearts and minds. and after how many deaths? how much money? any victory we claim is a hollow one.

hasty ambush: Gyrfalcon: So is Obama being blamed yet?

Any blame directed at Obama  is based on racism and possibly homophobia.
