Nope, no red flags there. Not a single one.

This actually happened to my fiance at the time.

Her: I'm doing a photo shoot with this guy I just met! At his place! He's got stuff for me to wear!

Me: "I want you to pretend I'm you, and listen to how this sounds."

Me: Repeats sentences to her that she just uttered.

Her: INSANE ANGER RAGE

Me: Fine. Go over to mystery dude's house. I'm sure I'll see you on the news.

Her: AJKLDJIWOD You're right, and I hate you for it.

Yeah, that relationship didn't really last.

A photographer with a point and shoot?

Obviously he's self conscious about his small equipment.

Geez. A guy can't even lure a young woman to hotel under false pretenses, zip-tie her up and try to make a baby, without her making a big ruckus and getting him kicked out of the hotel.

He should take he to small claims court for the price of that hotel. Carlsbad isn't a cheap area.

It gets better. Later: "I met this German kid and he wants me to have red wine with him! Then we're going to go take pictures in the desert!"

Me: "We're breaking up."

Her: INSANE ANGER RAAAGE.

I wanted to use many, many things at that point. I'm glad I didn't. I got to be free, met a bunch of awesome women afterwards (not all at once), and currently quite happy with the lady I'm with now.

The moral is, talk. If you find that it's like talking to a wall that aggressively wants to put itself in danger, you're probably better off elsewhere. That goes for all genders.

For a model:
Rule 1: Always bring someone with you to a shoot
Rule 2: If they have a problem with that, something is sketchy

For the boyfriend:
1) If your "model" girlfriend wants to put herself in danger against your protest, or go off to "shoot" with someone she barely knows, a) she probably knows the guy is going to ask for more than she's willing to give b) she's either going to end up raped, murdered, nude (doing something you probably wouldn't approve of), or not your girlfriend.

2) Also if a girl tells you she's a model, and can't support herself on that income, she's not a model. Having a picture up on modelmayhem doesn't count. And having some douche with a camera take a picture, doesn't count either.

To be fair, some modeling shoots are done at hotels.  The odds of winding up Fark headline material would depend on a variety of factors:  job assigned through an agency, references and reputation in the industry, willingness to allow you to bring a 'personal assistant' to assist you into a getaway car if the job turns out poorly, things like that.

In addition a proper photographer will use a legitimate modelling or casting source that isn't Gumtree or worse, Craigslist; will want to see your CV and headshot; and will be able to provide you with a portfolio and a clear explanation of the shoot and its purpose.

And if you don't know how to smell a fraud right away then take a look at the ads on Craigslist. Their tv/film/radio jobs section is a farking sewer.

Really, what did he do.  he didnt strike her, he didnt remove her clothes.   It appears she ASSUMED she was going to get assualted simply because of the zip tie.  It is CONCIEVABLE that he was, in fact just showing her a way to hold the pose, like she said.

I dont get what she bit him for.  Seems  to me like she freaked out for no reason and should go to jail for assaulting him.

TBH, I took photography classes as an elective and if the model showed up with an escort, it was always her asshole boyfriend who tried to interject in everything you were doing and completely ruined the shoot. Most photographers I have met that work with models have a strict "no escort" policy due to this jackassery.

I don't understand what it is about the concept of contributory negligence that confuses people so much. Nobody is absolving the rapist of guilt.

Dad is a photographer, always shows a portfolio of previous work and offers contact information for previous clients. He encourages them to bring a friend or family member if it would make them feel better, makes sure there is always a private area to change if the shoot requires it and hashes out all of the details before the day of the shoot, with the model being in complete control the day of, regardless of what was planned prior.

Weatherkiss was. but then maybe he got a reason for that, how would we know?

If you carry out a crime it is your fault. always. if the other person was amazingly dumb, if they practically invited it by being so dumb, if they left 500 bucks sitting on their porch, if they went to a bad bar in a bikini, makes no damned difference at all, it is still totally 100% the criminal's fault they chose to be a criminal.

Rest of us see 100 rubes a month and don't rob/beat/rape them. Because we arent shiatbags.

When my career doing artwork for TV, video games, and other media began to tank (since there are now so many younger guys who are willing to work twenty hour days for slave wages), I transitioned to small-market (Austin) editorial/commercial photography for seven years or so.
Money wasn't any better, but at least I got to get out from behind a computer for a while.
Aaaaanyway...though much of what I did was through or for some of the local agencies, I worked with quite a few folks (mostly female) who weren't yet signed by an agent. It always amazed my wife and I how many young women would show up and meet me in the sketchiest of locations at any time of day or night (I love the textures in dirty, pee-smelling alleys) just because I take pretty pictures. It made me worry for a few of them because they were so naive and trusting. I began recommending that they always bring someone, even if they're just nearby, who is able to check on them during the shoot.
Unfortunately, it seemed to make it worse. They almost never brought anyone. I know I would check out with the agents and stuff, but I doubt many of them verified my legitimacy with anyone at all. Scary stuff. Glad I don't have a stupid daughter; too many creeps out there.
Moral of the story: any money to be made in smaller areas is in corporate and product photography; models and small magazines are broke.
