We're stronger than the scorch!

The fire started in Kohr's Custard shop apparently. I hated that place as a kid. Always wanted to play mini golf on the roofs, but my mom JUST HAD TO HAVE HER KOHRS.

BURN BABY BURN.

Well, penicillin wouldn't hurt

Live on channel 7 if you are in the NYC area. The whole place is going up, its like 4-5 blocks big now.

Oh jeeeez.

Went to the boardwalk a few years ago, good times; this pic seems more appropriate than ever:

HOW DARE YOU!

The Kohr's vanilla/orange swirl is the best thing about the shore. Luckily, the one in Point Pleasant is OK and I'll be taking the kids there next weekend.

It isn't when you are an 8 year old who just wants to play mini golf on the roof. I mean, ITS ON THE ROOF! how farking awesome is that? More awesome than a ice cream cone I'll tell you.

I've never been to the Jersey Shore.

And now it's gone.

I stayed at a friends house 2 blocks away from this this last weekend, I usually don't do the boardwalks at the shore that but we did walk around..

/this looks like insurance lightning dirty jersey style.

The shore's still there. You won't even need to pack a grill if you go today.

Best of all, if they lose this one, there's like 10 others along the strip. Same with the 3 Brothers Pizza.

/rooftop golf ruled
//ice cream store catches on fire = Fark Irony Police?

I always wondered why they got rid of the rooftop golf. My guess is because the way it was set up was in no way remotely safe, and someone probably fell through onto the game where you rolled the kick ball into colored circles to win cartons of cigarettes.

Man, grandma loved that game.

Good thing that no trespassing sign is there. Bad thing that fire is well known to be illiterate.

Oh man, they denied us the audio of the townie, who was probably ranting about how this is all the fault of the bennies.

One thing about roof top golf: Mini golf is always better with the sound of batting cages in the background.

That crazy cigarette game. The one I remember looked like a mini boxing ring and all sorts of symbols were on it. Heck, I even won an NES game on one of those (supposedly not-rigged wheels) about 20 years ago.

The last time I was there was in 2002, that's when they had the big soda supplier switch from Pepsi to Coke and the Carousel Arcade moved their 1980s arcade games to a new section (video is from 2007) Good times.

Yup, it was a boxing ring, had a whole bunch of squares in it. I want to say it was a quarter to pick your square. Based on how common it was, you won either a pack, a few packs, or a carton of smokes. They would pick out a little kid whose job it would be to throw the kickball into the ring each time. The thing would be packed every time you went by, with like 5 year old gambling quarters to win packs of cigarettes, and this was going on into at least the late 90s.

Looking back the absurdity of it is pretty damn funny, but god damn if that wasn't a fun game to play, even though 8 year old me had absolutely no use for cigarettes.

This is going to rank up there in great guido tragedies with the likes of the end of production of the 80s style Camaro Z28, and Merry Go Round going bankrupt.

Chess King had the market cornered on jackets though. Merry Go Round was in desperate need to round out their outerwear selection to keep your B.U.M sweatshirt dry.

Having spent my summers in Seaside Park I can say that there is enough insurance money there to ensure that it'll be rebuilt by next Tuesday. Also that everyone goes to LBI anyway.

also that is one hell of a chair that is making it through the funtown fire. I really hope someone picks it up out of the rubble. I'm lucky if my outdoor chairs make it through a season.

The beaches are still there.  What's gone are the shoresters, and gaudy Guido-Mansions.    Good riddance.

I'm watching Ch. 7 out of NYC and they keep talking about how the sign is still standing.

I know they're going to jinx it.

Good news, Governor Christie is on seen, presumably to call the fire a big stupid idot.
