Yeah, Mike is a pussy....for not beating Clemens down everytime he threw at Mike's head, because Mike absolutely kills Clemens when he doesn't throw at his head.

Clemens is the biggest pussy to ever play the game, friend....and if he had been an NL pitcher, he never would have been as "gutsy" with the headhunting.

Clemens might get beaned, but he still has the ball the next time he goes out there to pitch. Here's the scoop though, why the hell would you want to waste an out to throw at Clemens. If Clemens hits Piazza, the Mets throw at Kent or Bags.

SuperCMC, I was thinking a lot about the Lovie Smith hiring today since it seemed like a lock even before the deal was finalized. I can't tell you exactly what Angelo's reasoning is, but I have some ideas.

First, the Rams don't have a great defense. Aeneas Williams is old but still one of the top 5 safeties in the league. Archuleta is really good too. After that you have two decent DEs and Tommy Polley as far as playmakers on defense go, and those are stretches, IMHO. Lovie Smith has taken a very shaky secondary and pretty bad LB corps and made a respectable defense out of them. He even made the D change to an aggro defense from the Cover 2 in the middle of the season without missing a beat.
It seems like everyone tried to air out the ball when the Rams were the best team in the NFL, but now that teams like the Pats and the Ravens are smothering teams with their defense, the league is shifting back to "defense wins championships".
Granted, making TB's defense good wasn't much of a challenge, but he has helped develop a ton of guys in his systems (look at how well Tinoisamoa played for him this year!). Dick Jauron is a decent coach, but he's more like the guy you tell not to fark up a good team (cough* Callahan *cough), than the guy you rebuild with.

Another thing is the pool of coaches they had to choose from. Basically, he could take the Steelers O-Line coach, or Smith. If the Bears wanted, they could have waited until after the Super Bowl and got in line for Romeo Crennel and Jim Johnson, but those guys aren't in-the-bag like Lovie Smith is/was.

Just my thoughts.
