I'm really looking forward to his hosting the reboot of Cosmos next year. Couldn't imagine a better man for the job. His ability to explain things in layman's terms without coming off as condescending is amazing.

I'm glad he's out there, as he does get people excited about science. I just wish he'd do more than steal Carl Sagan's lines. He's the Carlos Mencia of science.

First, I don't get the "stealing Carl Sagan's lines" thing.  Science is, well, science.  There are a limited number of valid ways to explain the basic concepts.

Also, I don't think Carl would mind, because his motivation wasn't personal glory, but to spread knowledge about science, how it works, and what it can teach us about the universe and ourselves to audiences that aren't traditionally science oriented.

RaiderFanMikeP: Can you imagine Brian Cox doing Cosmos?

I think he would be pretty good at the role. He has the same child-like wonderment that Sagan had. And he was on Doctor Who. How could Tyson top that?
