We've hit peak yoga pants, apparently. It's all downhill from here.

This is why it's so good to be the CEO.  It's so good that I'm surprised more people don't take it up as a profession.

Wouldn't the professional investors notice this and drive the stock down as he is doing it?  I mean if you're the CEO and you're unloading bunches of stock, someone is going to figure you might know something

Where in TFA do you see that the CEO sold stock?

Anyone who believes the stock market is a level playing field for every investor is a damn fool.

THIS. Insiders cannot make trades without filing certain papers and dumping that much stock would draw a lot of attention as it happens. Only way this could have happened is if it was a "pre-planned" sale of stock that has to be part of a contract that is well known by all the major investors.

TFA also says the CEO is Christine Day, which matches my memory, and not Dennis Wilson.  Chip Wilson is chairman of the board of directors, tho'.

Only thing I've found so far is Wilson letting it be known back in early July that he was going to sell over $200 megadollars worth of stock, dropping his ownership in the company from 28 to 25%.  Not exactly sneaky insider trading.

It was downhill once you started seeing your average Walmartian in yoga pants.

I don't understand the commercialization of yoga.

You don't need expensive pants or mats to do yoga.  If you are buying these things just because you want to get attention then you are missing the point of doing yoga.

Yep, pretty much.  This guy either got real lucky or more likely knew they were headed toward a drought in the next year or two and sold a bunch early.  I mean hell, with current american business practices of making the quick buck over long-term survivability the outcome is pretty inevitable.

Also, where is the part about weak earnings? They beat expectations, like they do every quarter. They revised estimates down, like they do every quarter, so that they look great when they beat earnings the next quarter. Like they do every quarter.

I'm not sure why I'm more disappoint.  Is it the fact that I recognized the name Lululemon as being a Yoga Pants company, or the fact that there are no pictures in this thread?

Back when I was in the markets, I had a service that would send me an instant alert any time somebody important started selling off.

Considering neither of those stories are about the CEO selling stock, I don't see where "it did happen".

Unless the "it" to which you refer is "a board member sold stock a few months ago", in which case it's exactly like the CEO dumping stock just before the earning report is released.

RickN99: Considering neither of those stories are about the CEO selling stock, I don't see where "it did happen".

CEOs sell stock all the time.

For example, I know of at least one CEO that sells a few million dollars worth of stock at a time and then makes donations with the proceeds.

// As someone else mentioned, they have to file well in advance of the sale.

If I owned any shares in that company, I would have dumped them months ago.  Their performance wasn't exactly a closely held secret.
