He was in the first one, too.

In other news, Ric Romero reports that visual effects artists often insert references to their previous works when working on a film.

/Particularly fond of the Serenity showing up in Battlestar Galactica.

Once again, JJ Abrams shows his love of overusing one thing in his star trek movies... ok two things.

Wasn't the Millennium Falcon used as part of the Nostromo in Alien?

Also, Serenity was seen in the skies above Caprica.

Though, to be fair in Firefly the Earth got ruined so humanity set out and created new colonies. What if Galatica was set in the future of the Firefly universe?

Stemming from a hidden message in the Atari video game Adventure, the term "Easter egg" in media now refers to a concealed joke or message in a game, TV show, or movie. As with any good Easter egg hunt, these hidden treasures are tough to find.

I thought it came from Rocky Horror Picture Show where there were easter eggs from a hunt still on set during filming.

The Millennium Falcon was an inverted building in Blade Runner. And a video screen from Alien was used in Blade Runner. Also Blade Runner.

Galactica

was set in the past of our universe. Just like Star Wars, only that was in a different galaxy. One that was far far away.

I actually wouldn't mind if this became a "thing" in the Abrams Trek movies (at least so long as he tossed Lindelof out of an air lock or at least any sort of script writing).

I'm thinking Abrams' aesthetics might work better for Star Wars but I'm curious to see what Trek easter eggs he puts into the new Star Wars movies.

Every movie I'd been looking forward to for a year that had dopey plot holes in them had his touch on the scripts, which I would later find out. I'm only doing the world a favor by mocking him online and doing what little I can to undo giving him money and discouraging Hollywood from giving him further work.

In the very least I keep it limited to appropriate threads unlike the trolls who make everything about partisan politics.

If you didn't see why yourself, there are plenty of threads to explain it.  If you disagree, that's one thing, but the reasons have been discussed on more than one occassion.

Mostly it's because butthurt Trekkies find faults in the new movies that are in all the other ones too, but these ones are somehow worse, because LENS FLARE and J J Abrams is popular.

Now, back in the dark days before the internet, people actually did discuss the pros and cons of each of the original TREK films.  If Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB existed starting with ST:TMP, the ratings might appear to be different than they are now.  Like all films, the JJTrek films will settle into their own real ranking with the others over time.  LOTS of films need a few years for a re-appraisal - for example, JOHN CARTER is getting higher critical praise now that it did when it came out.

There's a funny thing that some people think the ONLY people who find fault with JJTrek HAVE to be Trekkies (which is far from the truth).  If no other TREK film existed, the majority of the problems in STiD would still be there.

Just because I think STiD is full of problems doesn't mean I hate JJ Abrams.  I don't think I have an opinion of him one way or the other (never saw any series he made).  So I don't care about him personally - I just don't think this new movie is any good.
