Now that Geno looks somewhat mediocre, I don't think this is a big issue. Rex is still gone at the next convenient road stop

Mediocre against what was the worst pass defense in the NFL last year

True, but it's a step up from the dumpster fire everyone was expecting after his preseason collapse. I think he has the talent to lead the Jets to 4 or 5 wins. Previously I think people had them penciled in for 2

And this is because for some stupid reason Rex Ryan wanted to win a preseason game against the Giants so he put Sanchez in the game in the fourth quarter.  So useless.

That was last year.  TB has Revis and a 2nd round draft pick at CB new in the secondary this year.  They could still be bad, but it is too early to tell yet.  The definitely tried to improve it.

I still think Rex was trying to get Sanchez hurt, thereby giving himself an ounce of extra leeway on the season and making Ryan a veritable genius.

Or he might just have been on bath salts.

The word is out on Rex and he has been exposed as a very good coordinator.

Never look for genius when the most logical explanation is stupidity.

Their offense looked so horrible in the first half of that game that I switched to the only other game available in my area, which was Miami and Cleveland.

I repeat: Tampa Bay was so awful that I watched the Cleveland Browns on purpose.

They are not the 2000 Baltimore Ravens. Their defense is not good enough for them to win games with that offense.

I'm not a bucs fan but as a football fan you seem to be parsing your data to the detriment of an honest discussion

Bucs Added 2x Pro bowl safety
Bucs Added 4-5x Pro bowl corner
Bucs Added 2nd round corner in draft

They may not be the best secondary (although some think they could be)

So, instead of worst record in the league, only like third or fourth worse?

I was solely referring to the TB defense.  None of my comments referred to the TB offense or team as a composite unit.  I had Doug Martin in fantasy last year and he was a pleasant surprise.

If that was Rex's thought process then he's even dumber than everyone suspects.

Only until Woody makes them sign Tebow to get some media attention.

The secondary itself wasn't that bad. The only touchdown was set up by an interception giving the Jets a short field. The primary issues, as far as I could see, were taking stupid penalties & not respecting Smith's scrambling ability. He's not exactly Kaepernick, but give any 22-year-old with functional knee ligaments 20 yards of free space and he'll take it.

Not that it really matters, the Bucs look ready to become the year's first dumpster fire.

Forget Tebow, I actually thought the Jets would try to get Grossman from the Redskins.  He couldn't cost too much in trade, and you know what you get - exciting successes and spectacular fails.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't putting a player on season ending IR absolve the team from having to pay that player's full salary? If that's true then the Jets should be calling for limo service to take Sanchez to the hospital.

They should be tested properly Sunday against New Orleans. Unless there is bad rain. 50% chance of rain.

I wonder if the idea was planted by the GM? It helped get rid of Sanchez and is another nail in the coffin for Rex.

All part of the "Slaughter for Bridgewater."

Nope. Opposite.

The longer, season-ending IR designation  guarantees the salary. But, since his contract already guaranteed his 8.25M this year regardless, it is a moot point.

The GM just took smith in the draft tho.  He'll look like a fool taking QBs two years in a row.  Plus they'll have to out suck the Jags, Raiders and Bucs who are all going to looking for a QB.

I find it funny people are acting like Sanchez prior to injury was some huge franchise QB that people weren't days before calling to get benched forever for Geno Smith.
