resident who finds the woman of his dreams in the most unlikely of places: as a patient in the psychiatric facility where he recently has taken a job. The single-camera project is a romantic comedy that reminds us that love can drive you a little crazy.

So ... 10 days of potentially breaking the law? Sounds like a slam dunk.

Maybe a reality show would be better. Except rather than kicking you off the show for losing, it's off to the ovens with you. That should raise the competition to a whole new level.

Ok. I think this should be a rule. If you have a comedy set in a mental hospital, it should be called "Bedlam!". Just because.

In all fairness, Hogan's heroes was set in a camp in the Luftstalag system, which was created/overseen by Herman Goering when he toured a concentration camp and was confronted by some very ballsy RAF prisoners being held there, protesting that they were prisoners of war and should be treated as such.

AFAIK, the rank & file Wermacht didn't personally like the SS types too much.

I could add some stories about the guy I knew at one ward who'd blown off half of his face with a shotgun in a suicide attempt.  And there was another guy who suddenly realized he was alone in a common area with a young woman who was in for PTSD after being raped, so of course his reaction was to tear off all his clothes and start physically assaulting her.  Then there was the ward I was visiting where a guy tried to sell me his psych meds.  After I told him I didn't want them he said in effect "then just give me your money or I'll kill you."

I mean, American psych wards are absolute LAUGH RIOTS.  That's why I tell people if your doctor is suggesting hospitalization for you, just go to a hotel somewhere instead.  If you're smart enough to take the advice, you're smart enough to keep taking your meds, you'll be in cleaner surroundings, and you won't have to keep trying to play the "who do I have to be nice to here in case they decide to flip" game.

As someone that worked security for a lock down criminally insane hospital department while in college, I think I laughed NEVER when I had to go on the floor. Not something I would want to do long term. Other (non-mental) patients could be very amusing.

I used to work summers at OSH in Salem.  Darned little that I would call humorous happened, though there were moments.
I used to take lunch on the grounds and fell into b.s.ing with some of the regulars most every day.  I was once asked which ward I was on, and was met with some ire when I told them where I worked.  They wouldn't believe that I wasn't a patient.

My uncle met his wife in a mental hospital. But they were both patients and i think the marriage only lasted a short time. The kid she had was supposedly not his and was put up for adoption.

Sorry to hear that.  It's been suggested lithium is the only way to go, but we're all a little frightened of it.  At least I know that she won't end it all as long as the kids are in the house.

But hey! WHAT A HILARIOUS TV SHOW AMIRIGHT!!!?!?!

She had her moments before medication, I tell you nothing makes for a life experience than following behind a county PD cruiser going 90 down the highway in a mad rush to get home because of a phone call you got that involved discussions of a tub, your kid, and exit strategies.

It's better now obviously. I'd look hard into that lithium option.

And yeah, FUNNY SHOW

/hey NBC, you'll come off a jackasses....more than you already do
