For a less concealing look, one could also google for "Rebecca Marshall Party Down" but I wouldn't know anything about that.

Here's what I don't get: from the article, they almost make it sound like they expected to get shut down by Nintendo almost immediately, so why do the Kickstarter in the first place? Is it an attention grab on the creators' part, something to put on the resume?

It looked like a cool project.

I will not give money to a Kickstarter project that hasn't even taken the time to get the license for a Franchise. That honestly is just asking for it not to be completed.

Well what the hell did they THINK was going to happen?

How about you write your own original story instead of riding Nintendo's coattails?

Honestly, most fan fiction makes my skin crawl just as much as Timbaland's "sampled" music. Plagiarism and intellectual property theft is no more charming when it's from "a real fan" of the property. Step off and create your own thing, dammit.

OH, I see...

They DID make an original story... And then they wedged it into Metroid to gain support. So it  was  an attempt to ride Nintendo's dick.

Not impressed.

It could be that they thought Nintendo would be cool with it like Hideo Kojima was cool with the MGS: Philanthropy fan film.

It's pretty obvious that Nintendo only sees people as piggy banks. They're not EA, by any means, but it doesn't surprise me. Besides, I'm pretty sure their official position on live-action adaptations is "HEEEELLLLL NAW!" After that incident in the early 90's.

Honestly, Metroid needs a rest. When Sakamoto is gone, they can revisit the series.

Oh look, they shut down the very project I said they'd shut down back when I first heard of it. Big farking surprise.
