In fact, it holds 900% more water than what's in Kenya's current reserves.

Yeah, but, so does my sink.

having a water supply that can last for more than half a century

Shouldn't a natural reservoir that size last longer than a mere 50 years? Can't they manage it? Or are they all going to go on a giant water binge and drink as much as possible as quickly as possible, like a freshman in happy hour?

Keyna is one of the world's major producers of flowers for the cut flower market.  They'll blow through that water in a decade or two.

If they stopped making babies, they wouldn't have to worry about AIDS, starvation OR child soldiers. They could solve 4 problems at once.

Perfected in a lab and unleashed upon the United States in a 40 year plan to steal our guns?

You don't think they're gonna invade, do you?

I was listening to the BBC on the radio earlier, and fell over laughing when one of the very first questions the BBC reporter asked the Kenyan official he was interviewing was:  Are there plans to export the water for profit?

I was wondering the same thing.

Their plans should include filtering it through the ground and back in to the reservoir. I wonder if that is possible or if it is so dry there that it would just evaporate/dissipate.

We're at peak water here people. Buy gold!

If Kenya's government is able to create the proper infrastructure for the water, the nomadic tribespeople of the region can settle down instead of searching for rain which could lead to farms sprouting up, towns growing and a whole country developing.

Why do you want to exterminate the proud traditions of an ancient culture?

It's not Moland Springs but there's a catchy slogan

Kenyan Springs Bottled Water
Water poor people could be drinking but instead bottled for you.
Enjoy.

Kony doesn't have an identical twin in every country
every country doesn't have Zimbabwe's economy

Kenya has its issues but it's not the hell hole many envision.

One of my sisters is a surgeon volunteering in Kenya. I forget which is the nearest city. I think it was Motombo but don't quote me. Arid, yes. Scrubland, yes, but the people there are for the most part happy. Their biggest lacks are education and suitable medical care, which due to some of their traditional practices (cooking stoves running all day in the corner of the house with handle-less pots, etc) leads to some unfortunate circumstances. Burns are the most common injury for children, next is insect/snake bites. Without proper care, this leads to necrosis or dwarfed limbs as the scar tissue grows too-tight around the limb, preventing proper development and causing great pain. She's out there to help with setting bones, grafting skin, and so forth.

She's doing good work out there, and I'm proud of her every day.
