Outstanding!

Made me remember the first time I saw this movie. It was playing as a double feature with Rocky.

This version of the trailer kinda fits that night.

The same folks should cut a trailer for Ironclad as a comedy film.

That's a remarkable effort to make one of the silliest movies ever made seem like Excalibur.

(video was buffering like mad on my phone, though)

The first time I saw it, I was laying on a love seat and literally rolled out of it with laughter at the black knight scene. good stuff!

Two thoughts:

1. Is there a generic Hans Zimmer sound these days?

2. I wonder what Life of Brian would be like with a similar trailer.

"ROMANES EUNT DOMUS?!"
("BWAAAM")
Palin's Pontius Pilate about to say something
("BWAAAM")
"He is the Messiah!"
("BWAAAM")
Pictures of the crucifixes
("BWAAAM")
Silence ...
"Suicide squad, attack!"
(TA-DUM BUM")

No, but the people who should have sacked them have been sacked by the next level of sackers.
We are now awaiting replacement sackers in order to complete the sacking order.

The Pythons had the right to cut their own trailers, approve their own posters, etc., so I wouldn't put it past them doing something like this.  They once got their record company to put out one of their records in a sleeve for a Sir Nevelle Mariner album cover.

If you liked that, check these out (oldies but goodies):

Stanley Kubrick's The Shining as a feel-good family film.
• 180° diametric opposite: Disney's Mary Poppins as a horror film.

Both trailers are made entirely from actual footage of the films.

2013-09-12 04:21:27 AM
Except for Graham Chapman being dead, what with that incident involving the sushi chef and a roll of quarters.

2013-09-12 04:23:47 AM
I call shenanigans. A modern trailer would spend way more time in the Castle Anthrax.

I hadn't seen that one. It's prefecto!

My favorites:
"10 Things I Hate About Commandments" (cheats a little with non-original audio at one point)
"Glen & Gary & Glen & Ross"

This one's more of a mash-up: "Toy Story 2"/"Requiem for a Dream"

And a couple in truly bad taste (NSF the easily offended or religiously devout):
Yakety Christ
Kill Christ

That last one is funny as hell to me, but oh-so wrong, wrong, wrong.

I'd forgotten about the Japanese. And it's worth watching just to see Terry Jones (who's officially now my favorite Python) sending up The Seventh Seal.

Yes that was perfect.  Demonstrating why the movie couldn't possibly be made today.

Kibbler: Yes that was perfect.  Demonstrating why the movie couldn't possibly be made today.

It cost something like half a million Pounds to make, which was a nothing budget at the time, so there'd be no problem getting it made today, what with crowdsourcing and whatnot.

It would be impossible to get it distributed today, at least outside of the UK, in the way that the League of Gentlemen movie never saw distribution in the States.

Would probably be the only way to trick kids into see it, sadly. The "modern" era has absolutely no fun and very little imagination anymore, I find.

The sheer number of Monty Python fans ranging in age from 10 to 80 here and elsewhere on the Internet proves that wrong.  The kids don't need to do to the theater to see something like this today; they can just Netflix it.

Uhm, you seem to have forgotten that you're not spoofing MPatSftHG, you're spoofing modern adventure movies.
So, joke is a FAIL.    and kinda retarded.

If this trailer were made today it would be made by a COMEDY trailer director, who would then fark the whole movie.
The ONLY director today I've seen who doesn't put the best jokes in the trailer is Ben Stiller.   Man gets it.

2013-09-12 09:04:59 AM
Good find.
Going to have to watch the movie when I get home
