OHHHH WHO FARKING CARES!? This shiat has been all over my newsfeed by concerned assholes. Get the fark over it.

2013-09-11 03:19:32 PM
So do you have a list of things we shouldn't do and days we shouldn't do them on submitter? Care to share it?

2013-09-11 03:19:35 PM
Can we get an Air Force one flyby over Manhattan today as well?

2013-09-11 03:19:35 PM
Is there a MORE appropriate day?

2013-09-11 03:20:06 PM
Someone actually thought this.

And no other someones ever stopped to say anything.

Holy crap.

2013-09-11 03:20:44 PM
i was gonna buy a boxcutter today, but decided to put it off until tomorrow....

2013-09-11 03:21:29 PM
It's easy to simulate the burning planes, not so easy to simulate the panicked passengers.

2013-09-11 03:23:02 PM
Yes, Boston suffered so horribly that day. So many people's views of Logan Airport from their apartments were forever tarnished.

What he said. 12 years ago a bunch of mentally unstable extremists killed themselves flying planes into buildings. Then WE spent the next 10 years bombing people who weren't even involved, half the world away, in the name of patriotism. Want to have a moment of silence for something? How about thinking of the 300k poor schmucks who were killed for being brown within 1,500 miles of where some of the hijackers may have lived.

2013-09-11 03:24:37 PM
Does that mean next April 18th or so wiill be the perfect day for the Slow Cooker Stew Festivals in Midtown Manhattan?

2013-09-11 03:25:00 PM
...why not? Because people might be reminded of the thing that they've obviously already been thinking about all day? Or is it because people might think "ZOMG! TURRIST ATTACK!" when done today, but tomorrow they'd see smoke billowing from an airport and only think "Meh, must be an exercise"?

If you are this easily panicked by the world, just stay home with the blinds drawn and the TV off.

2013-09-11 03:25:15 PM
Why would you even apologize, let alone acknowledge, this non-sense. This isn't a national holiday, and until it is, it is appropriate to do whatever work activity that needs to be done.

2013-09-11 03:25:21 PM
Turns on TV, they're only up to the G names. Turns off TV.

MFAWG: Is there a MORE appropriate day?

No.

In fact, that's the perfect way to remember 9/11/01- use the anniversary to run through mass casualty and similar scenarios that illustrate the value of trained, professional first responders.

Was that the date Herod killed all the infants?

Um yeah, I probably wouldn't have scheduled this for today.

I wonder, do British monarchs lock themselves indoors and all normal security preparedness exercises cease every October 14? I mean, it's /only/ been 950 years. NEVER FORGET. Moment of silence? Casting a leery eye toward France?

How long do we have to wait before we resume normal security simulation operations?  Does our navy abandon every port on December 7 every year?  You know, "just in case"?

2013-09-11 03:39:29 PM
It's been a dozen years, get over it already. We've killed 10 times as many innocents in retaliation for the events.

2013-09-11 03:40:22 PM
Is it me or does it read like no one actually there panicked or was alarmed, but the airport posted a notice on facebook informing people of their plans, and people, far away people, uninvolved people, said "this concerns me", and "as a mother I find this troubling", or "this is offensive!"?

I hate people who do that.

Maybe they should place pressure cookers in unattended backpacks around town.

We need to stop attaching such relevance to dates. The Sept. 11 attacks happened in 2001, not every farking year since. We don't need an annual observance for every bad thing that ever happened.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Macho Grande?

And I thought Boston was made stronger by the marathon bombing. No apology should be needed. Some kind of drill is probably scheduled for every second Wednesday of the month.

No. In fact during WW2, against the advice of the Government, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mum) stayed in London, in Buckingham Palace while the Luftwaffe tried to bomb the shiat out of London. Stiff upper lip and all that.

Egoy3k: So do you have a list of things we shouldn't do and days we shouldn't do them on submitter? Care to share it?

One of the things which held the Roman Empire back was an ever-increasing number of holy days and feast days, eventually reaching something like 320 days out of 355.

Then I wouldn't worry too much.

REMEMBER!

On June 6, do NOT swim onto a European beach.
On Nov. 22, do NOT look out of the window at a library or book depository.
On Dec. 7, do NOT visit Hawaii lest it catch someone by surprise.

Stiff Upper Lips being noble and everything, well, what do we call this kind of Internet Outrage?  If I'm 80 years old and people are still saying "Stay Classy DHS, training on 9/11?  PLEASE!"...

This times a million.  These stupid outrage stories are really nothing more than people casual observance of a date.  Not like their candlelight vigil was interrupted.

..wait I just noticed my computer clock is a 9:11 how insensitive I should smash it with this ham

Oh FFS I'm tired of this bullshiat. Somebody called me out on Facebook as being "tacky because it is 9/11" because I was excited about my first successful set of smoked ribs. "Cool Story Bro" time:

I can see Logan from my office - one day a few months ago I was doing something by the windows that overlook Logan and noticed a fire on the runway. I remarked aloud that there was a fire on the runway. No one in the area said anything. Thinking they did not hear me I mentioned it again - one guy lifted his head and with a bothered look said "they're always doing fire drills over there" and went back to his work.

Fast forward to today - I was in a meeting with a group of people in a conference room overlooking Logan - someone mentioned, in a somewhat alarmed fashion, 'there's a fire on the runway'. I casually glanced to check it out and turned to the person - 'they're always doing fire drills over there'

Come to think of it, this was not even a mildly cool story - my sincerest apologies for having wasted your time.

Massport was conducting routine emergency drills, without paying attention to 9/11?

You should've responded with "Good point. Ok, now they're 9/11 memorial ribs. Just like the charred corpses of the victims -- whom we will never forget, by the way -- they were smoky and delicious."

Hey, don't forget about Portland ME. The terrorists flew out of there to start their day. Those poor North Bostonians Portlanders!
