FTFC:

What if our universe is contained within the smoke of a giant joint that was lit by a cop. That actually makes perfect sense. Thank you, me. I mean thank me, you. Do we have nachos?<a class="reply-permalink proxima js_endoftext" data-cke-saved-href="<a href=" href="<a href=" http:="" gawker.com="" what-if-our-universe-is-contained-within-the-smoke-of-a-1293966091"="" target="_blank">h

That's hilarious.

"Not only did the cop tolerate the joint, but he actually looks like he's sincerely enjoying himself (and maybe a little high)," wrote site contributor Barry Poppins.

I would think it would take a little longer, some resistance for the cops to be this cool with pot heads... it seems like they took a nestea plunge into acceptance.

Before someone incorrectly mentions that they just uphold the law there's plenty of cops in other states lobbying against changes in pot laws while at the same time refusing to uphold any new gun laws the people pass.

Oh and from what I know about cops "off duty" they party pretty hard, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I moved here in February for a chance to work (again) in my field. This was just a happy coincidence, as I was offered the job in December.

Kinda expected the law to be overturned, but newspaper printed a list of how many licenses will be given out per county.

/yay!

Well, it's probably more due to the fact that hard core stoners can't really get up the motivation to move.

There was a police officer in college who would do this as well.  He actually warned us when other police were coming (while tailgating).

I've spoken to a few people in law enforcement around here and they are happy about it. Washington has a meth problem they'd prefer to focus on and pot was a giant rift between the police and the community.

I was in a popular park in downtown Seattle last weekend and I took a quick toke and a cop saw me. He asked me, not told me, but asked me to put it away if I saw any kids coming. Then he left.

It's like bizarro world around here.

I'm of the opinion that both can be destructive, but meth seems like it's the worst possible thing.

Removing the illegal nature of it, what exactly is destructive about pot? I mean overuse can be destructive, but that's the same with any substance, and even then it's only likely to kill your motivation, not kill you.

Meth is destructive all around. From its manufacturing process to the toll it takes on people who use it.

That and it's not exactly difficult to get it everywhere else. I could see moving for some thing like gay marriage where if you stay where you are it's not happening. But weed? For most people the difference between WA and where they are now is they can't smoke around the police. That's not enough to get most people to move.

Don't get too excited about the SPD:
"
In December 2011 the SPD was subject to a Department of Justice investigation that found officers had violated the and the. The DOJ found that SPD officers engaged in a pattern of excessive use of force that violated the as well as Federal law. Furthermore, the regular invocation of the Garrity protection was found to have reduced the department's ability to supervise the use of force and hinder investigations. A spokesman for the SPD indicated they will fully comply with the DOJ inquiry to avoid a federal lawsuit. In late July 2012, the city and Department of Justice reached a settlement that included improved oversight, training and reporting.

The true measure of a force is how they act when you aren't kowtowing for them.
