The wealthiest Americans have almost fully recovered from the economic meltdown... according to a report from economist Emmanuel Saez and Thomas Piketty.

Good news, peasants! We've almost recovered, and that means we can start sharing the gains any day now. Maybe not today, but next month sounds totally possible.

The wealthy are peeing themselves with uncontained delight. They haven't been this relatively rich since the Roaring '20's. Good thing nothing bad happened after last time, right?

With the wealth lost from downturn, the wealthy lost valuable time to increase their gains. Now they have to make up for lost time - once they start surpassing their 2008 gains then they can start trickling that wealth time down

Damn the 1%,, hoarding all the money so the rest of us can't have any.  That's how money works, right?  There's a fixed amount of money, and rich people are taking it all, preventing the rest of us from having it.

Just like the CEOs that hoard their company's money, and then there's none left over to pay the underlings or the true hard working wage slaves... we just can't catch a break

It is historically very dangerous for a small group to hold a large percentage of the wealth, both for them individually and for the country at large.  Such circumstances have typically led to our largest financial meltdowns.  Carry on with your bootstrappery though.

If you don't already have money, then college should not be anything but a means to make money.  Once you have money, then by all means go back to school to enlighten your mind and expand your horizons.

And yet delusional people* still think that Obama is Socialist McCommunity Organizer, redistributing the wealth with gay abandon to the Wrong 43%.

Hell, even the Right 43% who voted for Mitt Romney haven't seen a cent of the increased productivity of workers over the last 30 or 40 years of economic growth. And there white-entitled asses moan continually about black-entitled asses but still suck up and kick down regardless of how many times they are kicked when they're down.

Yep, the class war is over.  Guess who won?

hint: it just might be the very small (1%) portion of the population earning an overwhelming majority (95%) of all the income.  If you need help with the math, let me know.  I can draw you some MS paint diagrams in crayon if that will help.

Out of curiosity? Why do you use the phrase "successful people" rather than "wealthy people"?
Maybe the conflating of the two is short-sighted and you've been duped somewhere to think greed is good? oh.....wait.....

When the wealth is built on having taxpayers pay for the losses, but keeping any gains for yourself, then they aren't really "successful". They've just rigged the system in such a way that if the companies they run go under, it hurts the whole country.

FTA is incorrect.

top 1% took 19% of income, top 10% took 48%

still terrible, but not as extreme as article claims

And chances are this one is the former. Aside from people who make their living stirring shiat (Limbuaghs, Coulters, etc) you know what the really wealthy people don't want to talk about with people not in their inner circle? Money.

I grew up in Los Gatos, CA. I have spent time with execs in huge Silicon Valley businesses. I have visited  the "car barn" of one of them that contains over a dozen Ferraris. They are great people, but don't try and talk money with them.
