I didn't even have to click to know which commercial it was talking about. I had no idea it only aired once.

(c) 2011?  I thought they made it earlier.  Huh.

Tautological headline is tautological.

guessing the one with the kneeling clydesdales.  Yup.

Thought it was poor taste, myself.  Like having the Geico gecko pledge allegiance or something.

Is there something wrong with my computer or is that video only 19 seconds long, and not the full thing?

2013-09-11 10:05:11 AM
....and continues to air for free every time someone links to it.

Same here.  I think "once" is code for "repeatedly."

It gave me chills and made my eyes tear up.

Then a long distance phone company ad came on and I really lost it.

Is that the one with her BFF Jill? Makes me cry. Every. Time.

Budweiser only paid to have it aired once, during the Superbowl, it was then aired on every news outlet for the next week.

Sickening corporate money grab while people were grieving.

They should have had the falling tower people landing on the horses, then Santa would appear on the wagon, and carry the bodies to heaven.

Then everyone could drink Budweiser because that's what Santa and angels drink!

The only thing it was missing was Alan Jackson.

A clear indication that they weren't trying to cash in on 9/11...

Wow, people get butthurt over that?  You got problems.

Commercials don't make me cry, no matter what they're supposed to be memorializing.  Maybe I'm just a black-hearted biatch, or maybe I don't get all choked up at crass corporate displays of commercialized grief.

There are/were "Commemorative 9-11" stand up cut out fake gold plated coins, "Never Forget" flags, pins, coffee cups, t-shirts, gawd only know what else, a sudden splat of red white and blue things everywhere, for sale for any amount from a few cents to thousands of dollars and this commercial draws butthurt?

Really?

No, I don't get weepy over 9-11 commercials either.  I get irritated with all the commercialism about it though.

It's still a blatant ploy to stir "feelings" of...something.  A corporate shilling of fake emotion, if you will.

The two guys driving the cart did nothing, not even remove their hat. Leave it to the horses to do it all.

This one still gets me. Stand up the tower, then knock it back down with a flick of the finger.

Dude, what's more American than using bad things happening to other people in order to make money? Bonus points if you can make the bad thing about you somehow for bonus empathy...

I'm a NYer and I can't watch that without crying.  It's beautiful.  Yes, they're a company that sells things.  They were hardly selling beer in that commercial.  They were selling the idea that perhaps -- just perhaps -- there are PEOPLE associated with the brand.

No, but they were selling their brand.  As I said upthread, it's like Geico having the gecko sing salute the WTC.

That pitch always blew my mind. What the hell kind of premium were they charging that they could offer a temporary 50¢ / can price decrease in farking 1983?!? That's a good sale on tuna today.

Aren't a lot of Super Bowl commercials intended as once-airings? And if I'm supposed to be impressed by Budweiser's magnanimity, why did they create a re-make?

touching? moving? emotional? Really? Is it subby's time of the month?

I really don't think I am a cold bastard ...but I got nothing from that except "merica, recognize our brand!"

I got a better one... The Cheerios Bee crying a single tear, transposed over the flag with the missing towers NY skyline at the bottom.

People who associate brands with "America" are sad people.

/also, Budweiser is really shiatty beer

Marketing Guy 1:  I have an idea...a brainwave...oh my God you guys are going to love this!

Marketing Guys 2 and 3:  What?  What?!?  Tell us!

Marketing Guy 1:  We put the Clydesdales...get this...on the deck of an aircraft carrier!  With a huge red white and blue banner in the background!

Marketing Guy 2:  You're kidding, right?  Are you on coke again?

Marketing Guy 3:  I'm a marketing guy, and that's the single most stomach-turningly crass thing I've ever heard.  I'd put my foot up your ass but what has my foot ever done to deserve that?

Marketing Guy 1:  It wasn't my idea!  It was the US Navy's idea!  I swear to...

Lieutenant 1:  No it wasn't.  Here's the idea he pitched to me, in his own handwriting, half an hour ago.

Marketing Guy 1:  OK, OK, OK, forget that.  Here's an even better idea.  So we have the Clydesdales at a correspondents' dinner, and they're rooting around under tables looking for something, funny, right?  Everybody's wondering, what are they looking for?  And then...

Marketing Guy 3:  Get the taser.  Somebody get the taser.

Marketing Guy 2:  Now I know why they let this guy take six months' vacation a year.

The only thing I got out of this is how much better quality the second commercial is than the first. Guess I'm a heartless bastard.

Emotionally touching, maybe to people far, far removed from the events of that day.

Probably network congestion. Hit 'refresh', try again.

I've been seeing that a lot lately when watching youtube.
