It's the same meat like substance as they have on the bagel.  Not entirely sure that they should be calling that substance "steak".

"steak" is a wonderful marketing term that really means very little. It certainly doesn't guarantee that it comes from a cow, much less any particular part of a cow.

I'll admit that it tastes pretty good, but that's not a steak, anymore than Steak-ums are steak.

It's also testing a different Dollar Menu with items priced as much as $5

well, that certainly is different

THIS!

McDonald's idea of steak and my idea of steak are probably two very different things.

Was about to say, I am pretty sure that McD's already had a Steak bagel.

Which I recall getting around 10 years ago, and tried eating it in the car and it dripped a fairly sizable stream of grease on my outfit... never got it again.

McDonald's and steak are two words that should never be used in the same sentence.

They are tasty, and that's all that matters. I see nothing wrong treating oneself to a fast food breakfast every now & then.

I wonder now with the new menu items and the new dollar menu if we are now going to see wages go up for workers?

Oh who am I kidding, of course they won't.

Seconded, I have to admit that is a tasty (for fast food) sandwich.

What's next, you guys going to disappoint me by disparaging my Dollar Tree steak, too?!?!??

Growing up in rural Georgia, the local McDonald's sold steak biscuits for breakfast, but it was country-fried steak. Their steak, egg & cheese biscuit was pretty damn good, but it didn't even come close to the country-fried steak biscuits the Dairy Queen had. DQ's biscuits were the size of two McDonald's biscuits, and they'd dip the steak in gravy for you. Sometimes I really miss living in the South...

That "steak" is a hunk of skirt that was run through a tenderizer rolling machine, and heavily peppered.
But... that being said, first thing in the morning a petite rosbif au poivre avec fromage en croute isn't too bad.
For the price.

The best fried chicken I have ever had was at a Popeyes in Louisville, KY?

The second best was, interestingly, in China. They do good fried chicken.

I just realized the reason McDonalds replaced everyone in Dallas with non-english speakers was to keep the buying public from knowing what horrors go on in the kitchen.

for some reason, I read that as Dog Fried Chicken.

You can't swing a dead cat in Shanghai or Beijing without hitting a KFC.

The steak mcmuffin has been sold locally for a while. Semi-beef instead of steak IMHO from the one I tried.

That's beef taken from the front of a semi, right?

its disappointing.

plus the old steak was the same shape of the hashbrown... which made it easy to put it on and take a trip to chow town.

/I know, I sound fat

Kind of like that "crab stick" pressed-meat garbage that seems to be everywhere nowadays.

In Shanghai, the C doesn't stand for chicken.

I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel and was given a steak one. I took one bite, and it was so bad, I drove back to McDonalds and exchanged it. It was awful. About what I'd expect dollar store dog food to taste like.

The Egg White Delight McMuffin is good for a fast food breakfast sangwich.
