Clay Matthews was 10 when Jim Kelly retired.  He might not even know who he is.

Way to keep it topical, subby.

Harbaugh, just let it go, dude. You're a coach. Act like one

2013-09-11 09:31:40 AM
I think any hand attack to the head of someone with a helmet on is basically a waste of time. Though a slap might have more impact in that case and be less likely to injure your hand.

2013-09-11 09:32:33 AM
I'd pay good, American greenbacks to watch Harbaugh go one on one with Matthews.

2013-09-11 09:32:38 AM
Oh and Harbaugh is retarded and obviously knows nothing about punching. Punching a football helmet would result in a broken hand with no damage to the guy you are punching. Slapping at least won't break your hand.

I'd do the same to see Matthews v Staley

Yes punching a helmet is entirely the thing to do.  I mean what's some broken knuckles?

I'm not a fan of either team but those are just pants on head stupid comments.  Even more so coming from a coach.

Jim Harbaugh thinks he is way smarter than he actually is.  He is one of the best coaches in the league, but I have a feeling his hubris will cause him to never win a Lombardi Trophy.

Missing the point fellas.  He's baiting defenses with his comments.  If he can increase the chance that some dumbass linebacker is going to take a closed fist swing at Kaepernick, why wouldn't he?  There is literally no downside to that scenario for Harbaugh, the 49ers orKaepernick.  Personal foul, possible ejection from the game, and possible injury to the defensive player.

Im actually shocked the NFL hasn't told him to stfu already

The ONLY person he might be baiting is Suh.   No one else is dumb enough to take a closed fist swing at a helmet.   So my point still stands, the comments are pants on head stupid.

I am sure they have privately.

Honestly, with the amount of biatching he does to the refs, I am sure he has lost any ability to influence refs.  Most coaches know to complain strategically so the refs look at similar plays differently.  If you are yelling like a goddamn lunatic after every play they are likely just to shut you out completely.

i hate to be That Guy, but why is Fark Sports Tab perpetually one day late?  Harbaugh said this at Monday's press conference.  what kind of news aggregator is this?

Jim Harbaugh, an asshole?  No way.

\and that's hard to do when you're compared with Clay Matthews

I hope this is the case, and the last time Kaep played in Seattle, he looked confused as shiat.  My only concern is that Seattle's O-Line will struggle.  Still, I have a hard time imagining Kaep will have an easy time against an actual defense rather than Dom Capers's "Bend, then Break" strategy.

It's going to feel weird rooting for Seattle

Seattle and San Fran have arguably the the best teams in the NFL.  They also have arguably the biggest douchebag head coaches in the NFL.

Richard Flaccid: They also have arguably the biggest douchebag head coaches in the NFL.

That's a deep, deep bench, though; like playing in a 4-team FF league.

Football players should be men. Remove your helmet on the field of play, eat the penalty and go at it as if you're both NHL enforcers. There would be a lot less shiat talking if this were a possibility.

Seems to me, these two points are related.  Perhaps his intent was to bait defenses.  But I don't think there is a single defensive player in the NFL who will read these comments and then, during a game, say "gee, Harbaugh declared open season on Kaepernick's helmet with our knuckles, so I'll just go ahead and throw a punch now."  On the other hand, there are probably a good number of opposing players who will say "man, that Harbaugh is a gigantic asshole; would anyone shed a tear if someone 'accidentally' ran into him on the sideline at the end of a play?"

So he wanted Matthews to give a donkey punch?

Back in the day Jill Kelly was so hot.

So, which coach this week is going to be the first to break the new rule about not leaving the sidelines to argue a call? Harbaugh or Carroll?

I forget the rules and going off memory, open handed shoves to the face mask aren't defined as punching, correct?

Also, yes I realize that tactic still hurts like a mother farker. Some d bag did it to me in high school during an xp and my neck was stiff for a week.

2013-09-11 11:05:44 AM
In other news, Clay Mathews, the biatch of Green Bay, still hasn't been fined by the NFL.

Cool. Now show us how to take a punch.

My favorite thing about Jim Harbaugh is that he doesn't give one single solitary fark what any of you think.

2013-09-11 11:14:07 AM
Jill Kelly, now there's someone I haven't fapped to in a while.  I'm putting that in my appointment book.

Its possible Matthews was going for the ol' Deacon Jones head slap, which, if landed properly, would have put Kaep on the bench for a couple plays. That would have been WAY more effective than any punch to a helmet. I don't think Jim has thought about that.

where do you see anything remotely resembling a headslap?  your post deserves a Deacon Jones headslap.

Harbaugh isn't baiting anything.  He's just keeping "Clay Matthews threw something that was kinda sort of a punch" out there as a news story.

It makes sense if you're pissed at Clay Matthews.

It was after the hit on Kappy.  While stanley was grabbing Matthews and Matthews was trying to push him away.  Harbaugh obviously has a hard time understanding the difference between a punch and an attempt to push someone away

The slaps/punches that the weasel Harbaugh is talking about happened in the fight which happened after Clay Matthews dirty hit out of bounds.

It was definitely a late hit but I wouldn't call it dirty.  He launched himself but didn't lead with the head, and he should have pulled off but it wasn't like Kaepernick had taken 3 step out and Matthews launched himself.  It was over-aggressive and 100% deserved the flag, but it wasn't dirty like Suh.

No but it was stupid as hell and ended up giving the niners a TD. There's being aggressive, and then there is being stupid as hell.  I swear late hits and personal fouls are the dumbest penalties to get and entirely avoidable. Much like Clay Matthews in general.

Saying not as dirty as suh is similar to saying fall isn't as cold as Pluto. It's still dirty given the situation, but so many people overreacted to the "punches" and IMO the nfl kind of derped on saying the ref's two wrongs made it right.

It shouldn't have given them a touchdown if the refs knew the damn rules, but yeah, it was dumb.  And he deserves grief for it.

Dude, it doesnt matter whether he leads with his helmet or not, when a quarterback is already out of bounds and a linebacker does his best steer wrestling imitation on the quarterback its dirty.

NFL says otherwise.  If the refs knew the rules, it would have been 1st down 49ers.

What the hell are you talking about?  The old head of NFL officials said as a 2 dead ball penalties, they should have offset and been 4th down.  That's the way it has always been.

Matthews deserved the penalty and the 49ers tackle deserved it for headbutting Matthews after the play.

mikaloyd: Dude, it doesnt matter whether he leads with his helmet or not, when a quarterback is already out of bounds and a linebacker does his best steer wrestling imitation on the quarterback its dirty.

He wasn't out of bounds when he launched.  He was out of control and deserved the penalty but it's different then a lot of late hits.  Though a think Matthews probably deserves a fine for letting himself be so out of control.
