EVERY WEED SMOKER'S FANTASY IS ABOUT TO COME TRUE!

Establish government control over the entire marijuana industry, including the cultivation, trafficking, and sale of the drug.
After registering with the state, citizens will be able to purchase up to 40 grams of marijuana a month.

Yeah, that's not quite the fantasy I had in mind...

You must be trolling... otherwise I suppose all countries in the southern hemisphere have hot climates?

/Uruguay has weather about equivalent to San Francisco.  ranges between 45-85F.

Depends on where you are.  Summer highs in Montevideo, on the coast, average about 83 degrees; roughly equivalent to, say, Baltimore.  I'd call it temperate.

Wasn't there a ruling that you could be tried for something you did overseas that, while not being illegal there is illegal in the US?

I think a guy smoked weed in the Netherlands or had sex with a young girl in Asia or something like that.

Seasons are fairly well defined, and in most of Uruguay spring is usually damp, cool, and windy; summers are warm; autumns are mild; and winters are chilly and uncomfortably damp. Northwestern Uruguay, however, is farther from large bodies of water and therefore has warmer summers and milder and drier winters than the rest of the country. Average highs and lows in summer (January) in Montevideo are 28 and 17 °C (82.4 and 62.6 °F), respectively, with an absolute maximum of 43 °C (109.4 °F); comparable numbers for Artigas in the northwest are 33 and 18 °C (91.4 and 64.4 °F), with the highest temperature ever recorded (42 °C or 107.6 °F). Winter (July) average highs and lows in Montevideo are 14 and 6 °C (57.2 and 42.8 °F), respectively, although the high humidity makes the temperatures feel colder; the lowest temperature registered in Montevideo is −4 °C (24.8 °F). Averages in July of a high of 18 °C (64.4 °F) and a low of 7 °C (44.6 °F) in Artigas confirm the milder winters in northwestern Uruguay, but even here temperatures have dropped to a subfreezing −4 °C (24.8 °F).

Montevideo is about as far from the tropics as Santa Barbara CA, Charlotte NC, Memphis TN, etc.

Meh, I misremembered where the country is on the continent - thought it was closer to the equator; haven't seriously looked at a map of SA since 1996. But if it's anything like Baltimore in the populated areas, still no thanks.

I've been there for 6 days.  Some of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.  They're very proud of their culture too.  Housing, food and drinks are ridiculously cheap.  Three of us paid a total of 20 USD for a bottle of wine, 3 waters, 2 steaks, and one ravioli plate.  I heard from locals that you could get a mansion on the beach for around 200,000 USD.

Not sure about drugs, but, ya, the underage sexing can get you in a LOT of trouble.

Uh I don't think Uruguay legalizing is any weed smoker's fantasy. Somewhere a little closer to home would a lot better.

It's certainly a dream come true for weed smokers who live in Uruguay, where this is quite close to home.

So, the dealers undercut the guvmint price, and you won't have to register with them or stick with a 40 gram/month limit.
