Look, he was a middle school principal. That's mitigating circumstances if I've ever heard it.

They said first stop was a St. Petersburg home for the hearing impaired, where he stabbed four people.

That seems like a really odd crime. I kind of want to know the story behind it. I mean, did he just stumble upon a place full of the hearing impaired and start stabbing, or did he really, really hate deaf people for some reason?

Authorities say Giancola, who was principal at Van Buren Middle School until he was arrested for buying crack cocaine in 2007, went on the spree in June 2012.

That's some seriously potent shiat!

Did I mis-read the article? Did they accept a plea deal that didn't include the two murders?

I think you misread it:  "Anthony Giancola pleaded guilty to two counts of murder"

And the sentence seems to reflect it...

/possible they switched it up between when you and I looked at it, of course

You'd think they'd be better at blocking knives with all that practice gesticulating. It's practically a martial art.

They must have because the "pleaded guilty to two counts of murder" wasn't there when I read the article earlier.

I'm surprised he didn't do all of that with a cheap flea-market samurai sword

Those of us that live here have to occasionally put up with chronically drug-addicted, violent, insane, stupid, bad-decision-making people in a state that favors chronically drug-addicted, violent, insane, stupid, bad-decision-making people.

What is this country coming to, one little slip-up and BOOM, life in prison!  Did anyone ask him if he found Jesus and now he's a changed man?  I didn't think so!

I wasn't even aware this happened.  My supposition is that had he used a firearm the news would have blared it for days.

"I feel like him sitting in prison thinking about what he did was the best outcome, I'm pleased with it," said Sherwin Petrucelli, Mary Anne's Allis son.

"He took two amazing people from their families and he has no remorse. He stood there like it was no big deal to him, like it was just another day, even with us blubbering and trying to get our emotions he just stood there, nothing," said Jennifer Waterman, Justin Lee Vandenburgh's mother.

I seriously doubt he even gives a shiat or likely ever will.

I'm not a lawyer; nor do I play one on TV.  But I'll venture a guess that the accused's attorneys tossed out "Stand Your Ground" as a defense during the pre-trial phase.

/not to say they may have kicked it around, as an option

He thought he could score some drugs at the group home (in all honesty the Lealman area all looks like that) . He was so wasted he was just going from place to place looking for drugs. He beat the couple that owned Kenvin's motel ( a hooker motel) with a microwave. Then he ditched his car nearby at a 24 hour greasy spoon The Egg Platter.

The guy was arrested a few years earlier for buying a crack rock from an undercover cop. At his office in the middle school, then asking the cop if he wanted a hit as he began to spark it up in his school office.

Florida, the Sunshiate state.
