Wow!  $19.11 for 18 holes and a cart?  You never forget a deal like that.

Is it wrong that when I read that I heard the voice of Admiral Ackbar?

A week after this happened, I told everybody "In a year, this is going to be just a T-Shirt".  Oh, how they excoriated my insensitivity.

Yes, but on the last hole, you have to putt uphill past a bunch of angry jihadist and if it goes in to the right hole, Osama's head splits open and he screams.

This is, of course, the next to last hole.

Protip:  when an apology is 'sorry I offended you', it's not really an apology.  Most apologies are like this, and it pisses me off.  It's an anti-apology.

When the apology is to someone who was offended perhaps there was no need for an apology.

Am I the only one who thinks at this point "remembering" 9/11 has itself begun to be in poor taste?
I think we ought to stop doing this. It dishonors the people who died to keep bringing it up as some sort of annual co-misery session. Once it has stopped being about honoring those people and only about yourself, it's time to grieve one last time and respectfully move on.

It's funny that anybody even cares. IT'S A FREAKIN GOLF COURSE! They're one of the biggest consumers of natural resources for any type of recreation, yet cater to one of the smallest proportions of the public. They're about as useless as anything ever invented by man. I wouldn't shed a tear if they all went away. Don't even get me started on anybody foolish enough to watch it on television.

Begun? Dude, there were two wars and a 9/11 NASCAR. Good taste is way behind us.

Maybe that's because no matter what a person does or says these days, someone somewhere is bound to get offended by it. And since when is it wrong to offend someone anyway? Big deal, you took offense. When you boil it down, being offended means nothing more than you didn't like something, since when is it the worlds responsibility to only say and do things that you would like?

Sales for memorial day, a day meant to remember the hundreds of thousands of soldiers who have died in the service, expected.

Sales for September 11th, a day a few thousand died, most terrible people ever who should be hunted down by Redditors (per the comments).

I'm not saying the significance of either day should be diminished, just that maybe the outrage at this is a tad overboard.

Maybe some other business could get in on this.

I'm thinking, "Let's roll!"[some bowling balls] as a tagline.

You could have the narration over a montage of bowlers smoking 7-10 splits.

An appropriate apology would be "We're sorry for making such a terrible decision.  We messed up and we feel horrible.  We shouldn't have done that."

Saying "I'm sorry if you're offended" puts the onus on the receiver and thereby not actually apologizing.  Every goddamn public apology and a lot in our personal lives are like this.  It's completely unacceptable to me.

$9.11 for 9 holes.
$19.11 for 18 holes.....

I'd like to play 9 holes twice please (for $18.22).

Although I guess this was in "poor taste"... is this in any more poor taste than every store that has "Memorial Day Sales"?  Isn't "Memorial Day" supposed to be "honoring" veterans and their sacrifices... I don't see people jumping around angry at basically just about every box store having a Memorial Day sale.

BINGO! We have a winner! In the next 20 years, we'll be having annual 9/11 sales at Crazy Eddie's Furniture and Tuffshed Emporium.

Marketing will always over reach into public outcry eventually.

This is one of the main reasons I wish everybody a happy 9/11 when that time of year comes around.  The more it's shoved down our throats, the more we roll our eyes and groan at the notion, and eventually we'll reach the other side of that bell-shaped curve whereby it'll become a national holiday in full-blown irony.

Yes, exactly where it belongs. The point is, who cares if you were offended? People get offended at all sort of things. It's not my responsibility to make sure you're never offended by things I do. Saying that something offended you is the equivalent of saying "Stop liking what I don't like".

Completely agreed.  I could give two shiats about offending people.  However I'm talking strictly about an shiatty apology.  Sometimes we do bad things that we need to apologize for.

Wouldn't it be nice if, for once, a company had the balls to deny these whiny farks an apology?... Then we could avoid this whole "anti-apology" non-sense and jump straight to "get the fark over it, Nancy"..
