Im by no means a JIm Mora or UCLA fan, but- Well done, Coach. Im guessing that reporter will no longer get a pass for interviews/press conferences in the near future .

Good for you Coach Mora..

Pro Tip: turn you gosh darn phone off when going into a meeting.  Should you forget, by all means, do not answer your phone let alone have a conversation.. And for the love of God, should you forget tips 1 and 2, human decency should tell you it is not a good idea to have a conversation while someone is trying to eulogize a player..

And no, texting would not be an acceptable alternative in this situation.

It would be nice if someone identified the reporter. You deserve more humiliation than that for being such an asshole.

Mora handled that much better than I would have.

Dear Deadspin and Subby,

He's not a jr Jim E. is the father Jim L. is the son.

I remember Mora answering his phone during overtime of the last game of the Falcons season once, in a game that determined whether we'd make the playoffs. It was weird. He was shouting at whoever called, maybe he was saying the caller was disrespectful for calling during overtime? But he talked to him for a while.

Someone just lost their press credentials. Even for L.A. that's beyond too much.

Holy shiat at the look of "I want to farking strangle you" in his eyes. He handled that about as best as you could but still getting his point across.  Beyond awkward.

Swankywanky,

Don't you worry, I will find that guy and learn him real good.  And for miss crossed arms, I am going to have a word or two with her as well..

I guess I'm just old fashioned in my belief that having someone you know die is not a license to be an ass, that his blowing up over this guy's faux pas brought way more attention to it than it would've gotten otherwise (and less attention to the deceased player and his family), and that people in leadership should conduct themselves with a certain level of composure, at least when making public appearances. Not to mention that this wasn't exactly a funeral; it was a press conference. It was a bad move by the "journalist," made worse by Mora's overreaction/misplaced anger.

I agree. College football coaches are the douchiest douches that ever douched. They'll take any excuse to act like the "big man on campus" just because they can. I have absolutely no respect for those scumbags.

Jim Mora (I) and Jim Mora (II) are to football as edging is to sexual control. They almost get you there but not quite.

/the Jim's are losers....

D-bag antics or not from the coach, at least he wasn't covering up a shower time with children camp at his University.

I was learning such new things, such as that it's a tragic time, a difficult time, that thoughts and prayers are with his family, that he has a mother, ants, uncles, grandparents, that players are dealing with it each in their own way, supporting each other.

who knows what other grief word-salad i could have learned if he went on

Deadspin is as bad as Simmons, Francesa, ESPN, and everyone else they like to lash out at.  I hate them, but like those that they criticize they come through with some great content at times.  They are the smarmy dickheads in the back of the room making fun of everyone.  I hate them.

I can't believe somebody still employs a Mora. It's like USC and UCLA had a contest to see who could hire the biggest douche.

2013-09-10 09:27:17 AM
The reporters caught up with Mora afterwards, and he gave a much better presser, explained why that kid meant so much to the team, that he was glad the kid got to play for UCLA in front of his parents during the Nevada game, and that both Nebraska and UCLA are going to honor the kid this Saturday in Lincoln.

It's not nice to remind Lions fans of that incident.

Meh... Much ado about little. Doesn't improve Mora's coaching ability one bit.
