I wonder what the Georgie-boys make out of this tmz excerpt:

"One person is on record that George Zimmerman is not the guy you want as your next door neighbor ... the Chief of Police of Lake Mary, Florida.

Police Chief Steve Bracknell tells TMZ, he's frustrated Shellie Zimmerman changed her story. She now says George did not have his hand on a gun in a threatening manner while arguing with her father.

Chief Bracknell says of Zimmerman, "The guy just can't stay out of the news" -- referring to the Trayvon Martin killing, speeding tickets and now this.  Bracknell says, "You'd think he'd get the heck out of Dodge."

We're told Shellie recanted her story after talking to her lawyer. The Chief said because of her flip-flopping, "There was not enough to affect an arrest, unfortunately."

Bracknell seems concerned that Zimmerman is bent on causing trouble, saying, "It's smoke, smoke smoke.  Is there a fire somewhere?  Lord knows."

We asked him if he'd feel safe if Zimmerman was his next door neighbor.  The Chief was clear ... "I would not want to be the neighbor of George Zimmerman." "

He just seems so stupidly reckless.  It's the kind of behavior you expect from a bad cop, not a civilian who should be thanking his lucky stars he isn't in jail.

Keeping with the bad cop theme, though, I suspect he'll try to beatdown someone else and it will backfire and that will land him in jail.  I really hope he isn't stupid enough to shoot someone else.

He then smashed it and cut it with a pocketknife, and there is a Lake Mary city worker across the street that I believe saw all of it."

[ww2.valdosta.edu image 269x212]

Yes, reading IS fundamental.   You'll note that's ALL Shellie's testimony.  Let's wait to actually get, at a minimum, a direct quote from the alleged worker who allegedly saw something, hmm?

Yes, yes.  Or from the father.. or from the bodyguard...

All interested, potentially biased parties.  Which is why I'd like to see some INDEPENDENT confirmation.

There's no charges, no arrests, and it's already been stated that the gun wasn't even used or pointed at anyone.  What sort of magic bullet are you waiting for to get something juicy out of this, if I may ask?

arentol: Fark It: cameroncrazy1984: Fark It: You're right, they need to be changed to allow conjecture, hyperbole, and speculation to be admissible and trump physical evidence

You're right, there was no physical evidence that Trayvon started the fight.

There was no evidence that Zimmerman started the fight, and no evidence that he even threw a punch.

There was also evidence that Martin knew Zimmerman was armed with a gun and therefore was legally justified in attempting to beat Zimmerman into unconsciousness IF ZImmerman initiated the fight. If the other person is defending themselves from your deadly weapon, you shouldn't be allowed to claim it was self defense. As to who initiated the fight, the evidence is really a toss up. The only way to break that tie would be for Martin to testify, but he can't, because HE IS FARKING DEAD.

Got a source?  because that's news to me.

As for your "tie breaking", that's called the presumption of innocence.  We could get rid of it, but you probably wouldn't like the end result...

supayoda: Kit Fister: Can we finally yank this guy's permit at the very least, and expel him from the Order of Responsible Gun Owners? The guy is a douche, a tard, and at this point just deserves to get his gun taken permanently.

I was willing to not say much about him during and after the trial due to lack of evidence, and I will even be OK with him speeding. But if the dude threatened his wife with a gun, get that gun out of his hands, NOW, or you're going to have another body, and I won't have that on my conscience. Pity the wife didn't Stand Her Ground(tm).

/how much do you want to bet he also beats his wife?

He does in fact have a history of domestic violence.

Because we'd need WAY bigger jails.  People lie in divorce cases all the time, make false accusations, etc, etc.

Had two good buddies each get to spend a few days in jail on false molestation charges (fortunately they weren't my clients)  How do I know the charges were BS?

Because after the divorce, neither mom objected to unsupervised visitation...

abfab: It appears there is no convincing his admirers that George Zimmerman is anything but the coolest dude ever. It's everyone BUT him that have lead to his troubles! TWO women in his life (Shellie & ex-GF Veronica Zauzo) accusing the poor, gentle soul of domestic violence? That's some bad luck! It's amazing, with all of the women I've dated over the last 25 years that I've never been accused of such, nor have any family of said partner made such a claim. In fact, I'm managed to never have the police called on me ever.  Very unusual, apparently. But for the grace of God, I could be in his position!

We really should start a pool. The implosion is coming, and while I hope no innocents are harmed, I've a feeling it will be spectacular.

Seriously, domestic violence is a real problem.  But it's also standard procedure to accuse your opponent of it in divorce cases.  Here in Mass, it's even been used to just get rid of roommates you don't like...the bar is "I feel afraid", and presto, they're out on the street, no hearing.

I didn't call you a conservative. I said that either you were one or were doing a remarkably good impression of one. Reading comprehension, there's a reason it's taught in schools."

As for George's story, I believe the original version of it, too. He, by his own claims, saw a person in public doing absolutely nothing wrong. In response he armed himself, got into his vehicle, pursued and harassed that individual. He is recorded speaking of the person he was pursuing in a hostile and threatening manner. He left his vehicle and continued pursuit despite being given clear and sound advice to do neither, forced a confrontation and gunned down an unarmed person committing no crime. He then tried to claim that forcing this entirely unavoidable confrontation on an unarmed teen committing no crime in public constituted self defense. And only an absolute imbecile, given those facts, doesn't recognize that as clear negligent manslaughter.

Clearly, all of this is Treyvon Martin's parents fault. If they had not done such a piass poor job of raising their son, NONE of this would have happened. I think the Martin family owes reparations to the Zimmerman's. Let the responsibility fall all the way to the root cause of this whole fiasco, and quit blaming Zimmerman.

Treygreen13: Coco LaFemme: Whatever your personal opinion of the Trayvon Martin case, one of them was armed with the gun, the other had iced tea and Skittles, and the one with the gun isn't in jail.

Luckily for Zimmerman, his trial (and the rest of the trials in the country) aren't conducted in Coco LaFemme's Court of Public Opinion.

I prefer to call him a big fat poopyhead myself, but we seem to agree on the basic concept here.

Pfffffbbbbbttt I think I was on page one! I don't care enough to check though, but I will laugh my ass off if this biatch gets more charges of making false statements to police after all this is said and done. False equivalence. The OJ Simpson case ignored mountains of evidence; the Zimmerman case had no evidence to ignore.

2013-09-10 08:29:16 AM

100 Watt Walrus: fredklein: Fubini: The evidence is pretty clear that Zimmerman completely lost track of Martin, to the point of giving up and retreating back to his truck. That fact alone casts significant doubt on the image of Zimmerman as the aggressor.

Which is enough, when the bar is "Beyond a reasonable doubt."

Sorry, no. As has been pointed out, there were 3-4 minutes between Zimmerman saying "Okay" to the police dispatcher's "We don't need you to do that", and the fatal shot. What was Zimmerman doing in those minutes? Not heading back to his truck, or he would have gotten to it (it was only 30 seconds away).

Lack of evidence is not evidence.

Whatever you think of Zimmerman or Martin, there was just no way to get beyond reasonable doubt, especially not from the evidence presented at trial.

According to Zimmerman, he wasn't really fighting (you know, because it was just a kid). It wasn't until Martin went for the gun that it came into play. For forty seconds, all George did was try to block blows, and call for help. You'd call him a pussy if he had beat up the little angel.
