gimmegimme: Cybernetic: gimmegimme: freak7: gimmegimme: What did the victim say after Zimmerman's 2005 domestic violence incident?

He didn't have a domestic violence incident, he had a fiance that filed a restraining order, alleging domestic violence. George also filed his own restraining order, both were granted.

Which word in my sentence do you take issue with?
Zimmerman?
2005?
domestic?
violence?
or
incident?

All of them apply.

In Florida, anyone can go to a courthouse and file an affidavit for a restraining order, and allege all kinds of violent or threatening behavior by the other party. Judges will issue the restraining order immediately, with a hearing (called a "return hearing") scheduled for approximately two weeks later. This happens even if the allegations in the affidavit are complete and utter bullshiat. No determination is made as to whether the allegations have any basis in fact until the return hearing. This system is easily and frequently abused.

So, the fact that a restraining order was obtained against someone should not be taken as prima facie evidence that the person actually did anything wrong. If a hearing was held, and the restraining order was extended, then it would be easier to believe that something bad actually happened. If the restraining order was dismissed after the initial two-week period, then there's a significant chance that the allegations in the affidavit were bullshiat.

Sorry if you've already explained, but can you whisk away:

Zimmerman's assault on a police officer.

Zimmerman initially hiding his money from the court?

I'm just having trouble understanding why some of the same folks who portrayed Martin as a thug POS are so willing to dismiss Zimmerman's documented history of violence.

No, and I have never tried to, and I wasn't addressing those in my post.

All I did in that post was point out the way that restraining orders work in Florida, and that the granting of a restraining order does not necessarily mean that someone has done something wrong, because I think that information is pertinent to the discussion.

I am not a "Zimmerman defender;" all I looked for in that trial was for the facts to come out, and for the law to be fairly applied to the facts that were in evidence. I think that the jury reached a correct verdict based on the facts and the law. That has absolutely no bearing on my opinion of George Zimmerman as a person--my opinion of him is pretty low.

If Zimmerman committed a crime in this new domestic-violence incident, then he should be arrested and prosecuted for it. If his estranged wife, needs a restraining order, she should certainly get one. I'm just not willing to assume either his guilt or his innocence based on the facts at hand.

freak7: The 17 year old who had arrived at home and then decided to return to the scene, confront and violently attack somebody?

::Sigh:: there's no evidence that happened. Either the the 'went home, came back', or the 'violently attack somebody'. His GF did say that he had said that he was 'behind his house' or words to that effect. But, even if you trust her to relay his words exactly, with no possible distortion, that still doesn't mean squat. After walking almost a mile from the store, being in the alley that went behind could easily fit that wording. (If I drive to the store, and get a phone call as I pull into the parking lot, I might very well say "I'm at the store", even though I'm actually hundreds of feet away from the actual building).

And, of course, there's absolutely no evidence (other than the word of the guy who was tried of murder), that shows who attacked who. The little evidence we have shows who was on top at one point in time, and who ultimately won, but nothing else.

My friend let a stripper and her kid stay at his apartment for a month after she fled from her boyfriend beating on her. The stripper (being a crazy stripper) decided to break a bottle on his face and stab him because she was jealous that he went out with his friends one night and came home late. They had no sexual relationship at all and they were not romantically involved, he was purely helping her and her daughter out until she got back on her feet. The cops were called and she made up all sorts of bogus claims against him and filed a restraining order against him. Nothing came of it but it was still filed and granted.

The same guy went to a bar a month later with his friends after a baseball game where some Mexican gangbangers decided to jump him and stab him repeatedly on his way out stealing his wallet. As he was being accosted he made it to his vehicle as they chased him where he had his gun and discharged it scaring off the dudes. Paramedics and police arrived, and he was arrested for discharging a firearm in public. They picked up one of the guys fleeing who said that they had a dispute and my friend went to his vehicle to get a gun and shot at them and only after did one of his buddies stab him.

His record looks bad. Restraining order against him for an apparent domestic violence and disturbance coupled with discharging a firearm in public and being intoxicated. He was the victim in both cases, but it all matters how you look at it.

So to sum up, wait for all the facts to come out before judging Zimmerman, and any lack of criminal conviction means you can't criticize his behavior.

But for everyone else, feel free to assume they're all lying drug addicted violent money-grubbing thugs who all just happen to be preying on the same innocent hero, and are all therefore guilty.

I never did that, either.

The same guy went to a bar a month later with his friends after a baseball game where some Mexican gangbangers decided to jump him and stab him repeatedly

I don't go to bars where "Mexican gangbangers" hang out.

Maybe I'm the one sane man in the world.

And how did they explain the trail of blood from where he was actually stabbed, leading toward his truck, where he got the gun? How did they explain having his wallet? "Um, yeah, officer- he pulled a gun on me and my buddies for no reason, shot at us, and then we (instead of running away from him) went up to him, stabbed him and stole his wallet, for, um... evidence. Yeah- evidence." I don't think even a cop is stupid enough to believe that.

His record looks bad. Restraining order against him for an apparent domestic violence and disturbance coupled with discharging a firearm in public and being intoxicated. He was the victim in both cases, but it all matters how you look at it.

He chose to let a "crazy stripper" live with him. He chose to go to a bar where "Mexican gangbangers" hang out. He wasn't forced into these things. "Victim"?? Perhaps. Like a man who staggers around blind drunk at 3 am on the 'wrong side of town' with hundred dollar bills hanging out his pockets is a "victim" when he gets mugged. Or a homeowner who used his flood insurance money to re-build in the same damn place is a "victim" when the floodplain *gasp* floods again.

discharging a firearm in public

I wonder of they could get Zimmerman on that charge....

It's good that he had an eyewitness to corroborate his version of all those events, donchathink?

lordjupiter: So what the self-defense enthusiasts are now saying is he should've retreated to his house and just called the police so they'd protect him from the guy following him home.  Is that right?

Who said that? What people are doing is countering the ridiculous claim that Zim chased down and grabbed Trayvon.

cameroncrazy1984: Fark It: You're right, they need to be changed to allow conjecture, hyperbole, and speculation to be admissible and trump physical evidence

You're right, there was no physical evidence that Trayvon started the fight.

There is no evidence whatsoever that proves who started the fight. Fact is, Martin could have been defending himself.

I'm starting to notice a pattern of behavior by Zimmerman. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if there wasn't a coverup going on.

I find it interesting that you're commenting on a case you obviously know little about. Trayvon's female friend said that he was in his yard and then went back to where Zimmerman was. She also said that she believes that Trayvon threw the first punch.

So "arrived at home" actually means "in the yard of his home"?

It definitely means he went back to George, either way.

Give up.

Almost like he was trying to stand his ground.

You misspelled "commit assault". He succeeded at that.

Karma is coming for George. It is inevitable. One cannot continually flip off fate.

Few if any are saying that.  It's not even necessary to disprove it.

If you're saying he did something wrong then there must be something he could've done right, right?  What would that be?

If some strange guy is stalking you and following you to your house, are you standing your ground or just going out and randomly assaulting someone.

You have it backwards.

I seems like either vast media incompetence or some sort of sprawling left-wing conspiracy that prevented an important fact like Martin being home and then "returning to the scene" to attack Zimmerman from coming to the attention of the public. That seems like something that w

And there it is. No need to wait for facts or details. There's simply no way this could possibly be true.

Facts
1 She has filed for Divorce
2 She has asked for his current and future money
3 shae has been convicted of perjury
4 she is on probation
5 the police let him go, this right here is the most telling of all the facts.
