I prefer the tried and true method:

The only ticket comparison tool I need:

TicketBastard:  $80 (ticket), $35 (convenience fee) $10 (because we can fee) $5 (rub salt in your wound fee)
Staying home: (Free)

David Crosby actually turned me on to this idea.  About 15 years ago when CSNY was touring and fans were complaining about the cost of a ticket he said "If you don't like it you can stay home".  And so I did.

Fark you, Crosby.  I've seen you before.  I was front row center when you were just sobering up playing in a club that only held 300 people even though there were only about 50 people total.

ticketmaster own many of the big venues like the brixton academy so they're the only ticket outlet for events there

What they don't tell you is that it's a $10 convenience fee to use that tool.

Price comparison tool for a monopoly? Who the hell do they compare with? The scalpers?

The big question is, will it block you from listing tickets for less than list price?  I assume so, as that's been their approach to TicketExchange.  I can't imagine they are going to list tickets at face value along with tickets at 60% less when it turns out the original price is way too high.

Need a Dispenser Here: Price comparison tool for a monopoly? Who the hell do they compare with? The scalpers?

And in many cases, THEY'RE the scalpers, too.

Paid 26 bucks for lawn seats for Maiden and Megadeth last week. I was more pissed about paying 11 dollars for a farking tall can of beer from the concession stands.

If the bands you like are like Megadeth and Iron Maiden, most of them don't come to your city because it's past curfew at their retirement homes :-)

Kidding, of course. I'm sure that must've been a good show!

Ha! It was a good show though. They sounded great! But there is some truth to the curfew. It was an at ampitheater and quiet hours in the county start at 10 pm or something like that. So the show wrapped up around that time.

How is scalping still legal?  It screws over a lot of people but only benefits a few.

2013-09-09 01:48:13 PM
And the price comparison tool will mysteriously be shut down when scalpers and desperate people are trying to dump extra tickets on other sites when the concert date approaches.
