When Breaking Bad has it's first fan convention you can start (just start) to call them a fanatical fan base.

Last night's ending got a little ridiculous, even for breaking bad.

I believe the producers are calling them seasons 5a and 5b.  I recall Gilligan saying something along the lines of "we have to be careful to call it 5a" in an interview, maybe for legal reasons like online sales.

I heard it was because everyone would have to get raises if Season 5B were called Season 6.

On Amazon, it's listed a season 6. Went through all the episodes on Netflix over the past few weeks, but didn't have time to make it before the latest ones came out. Bought 4 episodes off Amazon and was caught up to watch last night's episode. What a good one to be caught up for...

It was almost a year between the halves of the season, the DVD was released, and the first half is already on Netflix. These whiners had no reasonable expectation of getting both parts of the season for the pass. Amazon also did the same thing as well through their Instant Video store so it is not like iTunes did anything special. When you have a long break like that, you need to expect the halves of the season will be charged separately (the same thing happened with Doctor Who as well, so it is not just AMC doing this, either). They really should have just called it Season 6 and have been done with it, because for all intents and purposes the second half was a whole separate season.

Now if you are going to get pissed off about season passes on iTunes get annoyed about how the episodes sometimes don't download for pass holders until hours after the episodes have become available on iTunes. I ran into this when I was buying Doctor Who because BBCA didn't have high def at the time, and it was frustrating when the episode was available for no-passholders at midnight Saturday and it wasn't until well into Sunday morning that iTunes would get the signal to start downloading the Season Pass episode.

?????

It's just another boring drug/crime drama hyped up. It's not even that good a drama. After sitting through the first season waiting desperately for the show to be good or to come up with a likeable character all I can say is once again the internet has shown me that it has no taste or class.

I figured as much. If I want to see meth addicts and dealers behaving badly, I'd will just go hang out in a park about 20 miles due west of here.

It gets better. Breaking Bad is as intense a show as there is on TV, especially in the later years. Part of what makes it so good, and so unique, is that there is no single "likeable" character. They all have flaws, and are all very complex and dynamic, perhaps no more so than Skylar.

I'm guessing the reason Apple hasn't folded yet is that there is some finer print somewhere stating that people were only going to get 8 episode.

Funny anecdote: I kinda act as a surrogate dad to my ex-GF 7 yr. old daughter. We were watching TV the other day and a My Little Pony commercial came on. I asked her if she liked them and she said, "those are for babies".

She wants a bow and arrows.

That or the fact that AMC is the one who decides what episodes are included in a season, including a "Season Pass".

This is like buying a set of knives from a store, going home and finding out the knives are different than what is pictured on the box, and then suing the store rather than the knife company.

But this guy is arguing that Apple specifically said people would be getting 16 episodes with the season pass.

I personally think that whatever Apple said in their marketing was a mistake, that they did not intentionally engage in false or deceptive advertising. The pricing clearly indicates that Apple only intended to include 8 episodes in the "season" pass (and I suspect most people realized this given what season passes have cost in the past).

So the question is: should Apple be punished for this mistake?

And I'm saying Apple doesn't control that, AMC does via iTunes Connect.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you there. Not having any likable characters has had the exact opposite effect on me. I can't get behind any of them and as such have no compelling reason to want to keep going. At least on The Shield you had some good cops.
I made it a few episodes into season four of BB before I quit. I was on the fence for awhile, never binging on it like you keep hearing people say they do. The hours felt like they were getting longer and longer.

Yeah, it just seems like they're biatching just to biatch. They were already pissed that AMC held off airing the rest of the show, and now they're just transferring that annoyance to those not giving them the whole deal for the same price.

No can has season 5b without more money. NOT YOURS.

XBOX Video did the same thing. I have the season pass for season 5 on there, but can't watch the latest episodes unless I pay up. I don't mind, though. The show is worth it.

I think it depends on what you mean by "likeable". I'm not going to invite any of the characters from the show over to my house for dinner or anything, but Ilike all of them-  as characters. They're all interesting. Even Marie has suddenly started to develop into something more than Hank's shrill, klepto wife. The only cipher left is Walt, Jr.

The fact that they're all terrible people doesn't stop me from liking their characters.

Right, exactly. They're great characters who are mostly terrible people. I don't want to be friends with them, but I enjoy the hell out of watching them on the teevee.

I'm reminded a bit of what I used to say about Triple H back in the Attitude Era of the WWF. He was a bad guy, but he was so good at being the bad guy that I kinda rooted for him.

So when it says it needs permission to access all data in all tabs that doesn't worry you?

Also does it work for Al-Jazeera and the BBC One player?

don't know for aj, but it does work with the bbc web-based iplayer. doesn't work if you download episodes directly into the player because that needs a full proxy.

So when it says it needs permission to access all data in all tabs that doesn't worry you?

I enable extensions only on an as-needed basis and otherwise keep them inactivated. so no.

Its either season 5 or its season 6. If its season 5 (which it is) then apple is in breach of contract (which they are).

Since amc made it clear this was season 5 and not season 6 then there is no need to argue over what season it is.

This is pretty much exactly like I have felt.  I could get behind people on The Shield, but BB is mostly just awful people.  I will say that when I have time, I will occasionally further my BB progress (I'm somewhere in S4).  The writing and acting on the show is what keeps me coming back (compared to the other crap out there), but I won't miss it if something better comes along.  I can see why people really like it, though.
