That's nothing. What if you found that men spent millions of hours examining images of Uranus.

Yeah was one of my favourite parts - must say this guy has done well (esp. since the random factor of the card deck turns it almost into a game itself.)

Anyone for a game of Settlers of Catan?

This needs to be a game! This guy needs to find a visionary programmer and do a Kickstarter campaign. I would kick some loot his way. This is awesome. At least scan all the pages and create an explorable online archive/history of his project.

Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just close your eyes and picture your own imaginary world?

Looks flat to me. He should start over and make it 3D.

Absolutely. A friend of mine had the Waterdeep box set.. his basement was huge and empty, and we still couldn't spread that thing out completely. I always dreamed of equaling or topping that.

After I got the Lankhmar box set (that had sooo many maps), I went out of my way and made a huge city map (10's of A4 graph paper) - downside was I spent so much time making my cool city map I never actually DM'd a game in it.

Judges Guild put out a set called City State of the World Emperor about 1980. It contained a large detailed city and surrounding areas. If you like Waterdeep and Lankhmar they you will enjoy this as well. It was written for original AD&D but adapts easily to any RPG with a little work. They aren't currently in print but you can pick them up on Ebay and RPGgeek.

Wow- you just saved me a fortune on cable bills, games, concerts, music and vacations!
'Hey redsquid, why are you sitting there with your eyes closed?'
'I'm not. I'm playing the new GTA while watching Breaking Bad and listening to Daft Punk... on Maui.'

I've more than one like that - sure, it's a bit masturbatory, but, much like masturbation, it's too much fun to put it down. :P

I always got way too tied up on individual buildings to ever get beyond a dozen pages of A5..

And to add to redsquid's reply to you: Umm-- No. Just no. That question is just ridiculous. I mean, I understand where it came from, but in the context we're under, here, it just doesn't make any sense.

And: I suggest you google the search string "define: hobby". Just sayin'...

I enjoy when life allows you to make meta observations... here we have a perfect example of a worker ant who somehow got defective code in his brain, and thus spent the remainder of his existence toiling around in circles running the bugged program for no good purpose.

Poor broken robot :(

On second thought, let's not go to Ukrania.  It is a silly place.
