Thanks to fluoride and orthodontics, our teeth are in better shape than they've ever been.  So why does everything has to be pureed, blended, juiced, and chopped into mush?  Want some more carrots in your diet?  THEN EAT A FARKING CARROT!!!

Instead of an ordinary fruit smoothie, go for a yoghurt style, live culture fruit smoothie called Kefir.

Typically, it's got 10-12 different cultures of bacteria in it, so it's good for your gut, especially if you eat Jicama sticks with it.  Slightly sweet tasting, Jicama has a lot of prebiotic water soluble fiber for the probiotic bacteria to eat on the way down.

Yeah, it's so friggin' healthy that you can double your cheeseburgers for lunch.

Fruit doesn't.
So I eat fruit, no doctor or other specialist advice needed.

As with everything else, pay attention to the calories and ingredients.  A ~20 oz smoothie is a meal replacement (350-400 calories) for most people, not a snack. Smoothie King adds sugar (turbinado) to some smoothies and some of their fruit is preserved in sugar-added syrup.  Most of Jamba Juice's smoothies have as a main ingredient frozen yogurt or sherbet.  The Naked and Odwalla juices often use white grape or apple juice (basically sugar water) as their main ingredient, even when the label calls it some other kind of juice.

Further down the page, PepsiCo subsidiary Naked Juice sponsored a link to a really crappy top 10 list about food deserts.  And I guess their implication is right:  a lot of people are eating emptier calories than smoothies.

I understand too much sugar isn't good for you but some people act like humans should only eat unsweet items and that somehow modern junk food is to blame for humans wanting something sweet to eat. as though if it wasn't for Big Candy we'd all be happily eating plain oatmeal with as much enjoyment as chocolate. But human breast milk is like skim milk with a couple heaping teaspoons of sugar; humans like the sweet flavour as soon as they are born.

Even as a meal replacement, they can have entirely too much sugar.  Fruit is loaded with the stuff.  OJ has about as much sugar as Coke

Eat less calories than your body needs for maintenance over a period of time and you will lose weight.
Eat more calories than your body needs for maintenance over a period of time and you gain weight.

If you are unsure about the calories in the food you're about to consume, look up the calories online.
If that calorie count doesn't fit into your goals, eat something else (if you're in an area with a smoothie place, there are probably more than a few other options).

And now we don't have to have these articles anymore.

It's tricky putting it in the smoothy since it gets solid pretty easy. Like if I put it on last on the frozen fruit, then it doesn't mix in well. I usually use the cold water out of the fridge or almond milk and that will make it solid too, so I put the last piece of kale in so it makes a little bowl to hold it. But it seems to balance out the cayenne pepper.

Actually it's all working better than ever. The cayenne pepper cleans out the plumbing. The gasses are another story.

The bees collect it on their legs, at the hives the bee keepers have little mesh tubes that cause the chunks of pollen fall off and they collect that and bottle it up.

Oh, I know what you're talking about, but it's not that big of a deal. If you're cutting out 500 calories a day you're not going to be going after a sugary "snack" that's 400-500 calories. And if you happen to drink a smoothie for "lunch" and notice you're hungry sooner than when you would regularly eat next, MOST people have the common sense to understand that it's probably because of the smoothie and will avoid it except in moderation.

Like I said, go sell diet books with your wisdom to fat people, then you can train people not to listen to their bodies and just fail and not know why.
