Noting the race of yourself or someone else is not racism. Or in thus case reverse racism.

/drtfa, of course

WTF? And I just love their son's hair.

Why has race become the primary discussion of politics?

Its bullshiat

2013-09-08 09:35:46 AM
Every politician, assuming that they are married and have kids, puts out a pic of themselves with their spouse and kids.  So this guy's married to a black woman and has biracial kids.  I don't see any racial element here, just a good old fashioned political tradition.

I think Bloomberg's just butthurt that his favored candidate is losing to this guy.

Today's rhetorical question: How do so many incredibly stupid, clumsy people become so incredibly rich?

So is Bloomberg mayor for life?
Did they undo term limits there?

That's all I can think. Or maybe he was busy thinking of a way to stop and frisk the guy's family and his own thoughts on race slipped out.  I can't vote in NYC, but I get all the NY news here, and Bloomberg seems to be nothing more than a bag of mixed nuts lately.

I kind of hope whoever takes the reigns of the city makes it a little more tolerable than it's been in the past 12 years... i doubt it, though.

Even better than all of this is some radio ad that's AGAINST a candidate, with people saying "he's no Giuliani" and complaining the guy wants to "legalize drugs" (marijuana) and "insults cops."  I keep thinking, "and there's somehow a problem with this guy why?" every time I hear it.

HotIgneous Intruder: So is Bloomberg mayor for life?

After loudly campaigning against Guiliani taking on a brief, extended third term for the sake of the city's stability in the aftermath of 9/11, Bloomberg did indeed undo term limits, and it's a big part of why the city has struggled to thrive over the last decade.

Bloomberg is a whiny biatch.

2013-09-08 10:27:28 AM
FTFA: "I mean he's making an appeal using his family to gain support," replied Bloomberg. "I think it's pretty obvious to anyone watching what he's been doing. I do not think he himself is racist. It's comparable to me pointing out I'm Jewish in attracting the Jewish vote. You tailor messages to your audiences and address issues you think your audience cares about."

So as I read it, "nanny" Bloomberg's not saying the guy is racist, he's saying de Blasio is courting racist voters. In fact, he made a point of saying de Blasio isn't racist, although he didn't need to explicitly mention the family to make that point; the implication would have been sufficient IMO.

Unfortunately, to support an accusation like "courting racists," he doesn't cite any examples beyond "Tearing people apart with this "two cities" thing," so I won't say whether I think he's right or not (the linked Politico article didn't help there either). Anyone watching this race closely enough to comment on that?

No, Bloomberg is a Republican.  So, it's the standard GOP race baiting.

It's far, far worse then that.  Think about it.

This cracker intentionally married a black woman years ago, spent all these years banging her, with the sole intention of pointing out that Bloomberg is the real racist.  Which has to be the most racist thing ever done in politics.

It's even more confusing. dB's strategy, as Bloomberg seems to characterize it, is to court racist voters who hate blacks while at the same time prominently showing off his biracial family, presumably in two different mailers, and hoping the racists don't get the "check out my family" mailer.

P.S. having googled somewhat of the "two cities thing" thing, I got more of a Dickensian class complaint than a racism-thing.

Problem: you only just scratched the surface of what nuts like Bloomberg actually think.

Honestly, I think Bloomberg is just pissed he can't have "his" cops stop and frisk the man's family, as ostensibly, the personal security for a frontrunning mayoral candidate keeps a pretty close watch on them.

Point of information: Giuliani proposed extending his term by a short time (a month or so, IIRC?) but this did not happen; also the City Council removed term limits after 2008 also for "stability" reasons (financial crisis and all that) but reinstated them again afterwards.

Three words explain his success: billions of dollars.  Nobody can touch his wealth and he's happy to spend it on whatever whim suits his fancy. I hope he disappears soon, but something tells me we'll be seeing him in 2016 or 2020. I certainly hope not, but I don't think he'll like not having a city to lord over, and will get ideas about lording over a country.

All snarkiness aside, I'm not saying he shouldn't include his family in the ads.  I'm just saying that his son's 'Fro is way over the top.  I remember the 70s; I had a 'Fro, and many of my friends and relatives had 'Fros.  No one I knew had a 'Fro as big as the one de Blasio's son is sporting.

In fairness, if I lived in NYC, I might consider voting for him. I haven't been following the race that closely, but that one silly ad wouldn't make a huge difference to me.

He looks like a young teenager. He's just being himself. It's clear that the family has yet to be corrupted by the "we must look and play the part of a "political family" and have stupid "politician accepted" haircuts and dress like complete douches.  The kid is adorable, and I sincerely doubt his hair is that way because someone wanted to send a message that the kid is black.  Even without his hair, he is pretty clearly black.  That's an all-around stupid argument.
