1. Its "fangurl"
2. And a pretty milfy one at that
3. I want my TWC for Apple TV

I would laugh particularly hard if they don't release a new iPhone.  But they will.

Have you ever actually sat down and read a CNBC article? It looks like this:

"We expect these refreshes, along with the potential for incremental distribution of the iPhone, to drive improved unit volume, stabilized gross margin and accelerating operating profit in the coming quarters," said Andy Hargreaves, an analyst for Pacific Crest Securities, in a note to clients.

That translates to "someone says a new iPhone will make Apple a profit." And every sentence-paragraph is like that. There's not even any actual prediction, it's pure business-babble.

Kuroshin: I didn't realize people were generally disappointed in the iPhone.  I mean, they keep buying them...

The iPhone has locked in the biggest segment of phone users, non-techie people. While the techies want to SSH in to their home server or load in home brew apps most people want to just be able to update social media, check the news, carry plane boarding passes etc. etc. and the iPhone makes this so easy thats its transparent. That was what Apple got right and why they are the market leader.

There are two things I want on my next iPhone.

1. Buttons for games.

2. A larger screen.

Neither one will be a stylistic option for apple, ever.
So yes, the new iPhone will disappoint me.

/as will every tablet from every manufacturer.
/$500 + to do what a $200 netbook does, with option for unaffordable data plans...
/my ipad is nice and all, but I'm not sure I'll bother getting another one.

I got the Note 2 back in February this year and could not be happier.

Screen is freaking huge!

I don't have anything against the iPhone, but I never quite got this argument.  What is it that's exactly 'hard' about a stock android phone that is easier on an iPhone?

Exactly.  I haven't heard any rumblings from the masses about how disappointed they are with their iPhones.  Even the few techies who own iPhones aren't disappointed in them, since they knew exactly what they were buying, and what they wanted from it.  I don't get the headline.

Kimpak: I don't have anything against the iPhone, but I never quite got this argument.  What is it that's exactly 'hard' about a stock android phone that is easier on an iPhone?

Nothing.  People just like to buy into hype and old notions.  Android was less functional and more difficult to use, back in the pre-Donut days.  We're several UI revisions and many letters later (Kit-Kat was just announced), so the experience is not at all what it used to be back in the days of the archaic G1.

I don't own an iPhone or anything but the idea of the iPhone 5cheap is just wrong to me. Apple are supposed to make overpriced but beautifully industrial designed products, not cheap poorly designed plastic crap. Jesus even the colors they picked are terrible, pastels really?

iOS 7 has gamepad support. The new iphone won't have more buttons but any iphone running it will be able to use a controller.

When I killed my Winphone and moved to the iPhone 4, it was the big guy on the block (and the only one that could recognize a bluetooth keyboard).

When I washed my iPhone 4, I discovered the 5 was the diminutive option. The way I use my phone in conjunction with a barcode scanner (that pretends to be a BT kb) means that with my 2xl hands I can only hold so much. If I had a normal job the Samsung giants would be nifty.

I don't what you would really expect from an "s" release. It will be an incremental upgrade. A few new whistles, a bell or two but nothing earth shattering. The 5C is to attract the "mini" market and low end since Android dominates everything there. It will more than likely be nothing but a iP3 with a new coat of paint.

Nothing earth shattering like the Note 3 but an upgrade for those playing with a iP4

I'm an iphone 5 user, before that I had a 4 and before that a 3G.

I won't be ipgrading for another year but if apple has no Note size phone by then I will be going to the dark side.

I don't care about removable storage (have the 64gb), widgets, removable battery, NFC, inductive charging, face tracking...etc.

I want the phone to be fast and last all day (iphone 5 is treading a fine line on this one). But I want a big display. I browse the web on my phone all the time these days, and I want that experience to be better. I'd also like to consolidate my phone and ereader, and I think a note size screen would do that.

The iPhone 4 or 4s was a major disappointment. I am talking about the one that passed by NFC and LTE for another year when it should have been included.

The rest of the phone was fine, that should have been in there though

I cannot see Apple going full on 6" size anytime soon since they are barely inching their way up now, and 5" is pretty much the norm. Could happen though, but I guarantee it will not be as functional at the Note Series is. Not that you really want all that....

I didn't say Android has less function, i said it was less easy to use. At the moment 4.3 has more features than iOS6 but some of them are gimmicks and a lot of them are either poorly documented or buried deep in menus so they might as well not be there. Android is getting better and better with every iteration but it still feels like its developed by twenty different teams that don't talk to each other and the words user interface are dirty words. Making something as complex as a smartphone operating system easy to use is very hard and time consuming and it feels like it isn't as important at Google as it is at Apple.

If iOS7 doesn't move the operating system forward then Android will probably catch up or even overtake in usability and functionality by iOS8 but we will have to wait and see.

Marketing will only get someone to buy your product once. The product itself is what makes them buy it again.

In actual use, they're about the same. But buying them is very different.

1) IPhone Purchase Process
"I'd like to buy an iPhone".
"Great. You want option A or option B?"
"I'll take A"
"OK, here you go, thanks!"

2) Android Purchase Process
"I'd like to buy an Android phone.".

I'm on the S track, had a 3G and it worked just fine, but then around the time the 4S came out the wife wanted an iPhone so I got her the 4 and I got the 4S, at the time she didn't care and is not tech savy at all.

Her 4 is having problems because its really slow now and usually, I'd just give her my 4S, but instead I'm going to buy us both 5S's.

I like Apple but I've never had an apple pc

If it wasn't for the ease of using iTunes compared to using my Samsung tablet, I might switch.

What? That's impossible, I was told that iPhones last indefinitely, can be sold used for more than you paid, and actually get faster over time.

What? That's impossible, I was told the iPhone has some proprietary cold-fusion battery technology that blows away the competition.  And that the UI is perfect, while all others are laggy and buggy.

I wonder what that graph looks like since Dec11.  I don't know about the iPhone but I would think the iPad segment has widened considerably over the last 2 years.  I'm also surprised iTunes isn't growing, even if only gradually.
