Megaslow: "Drug dealers' e-cigarettes cannibis risk"Dude... wait what?
ChiWhiteSox_56: I used to smoke, but ever since I hit my 30s pot just makes me have really disturbing thoughts. This oil would probably put me over the edge.
jfarkinB: So, the "new hotness" has been around since, what, the 1970s? Earlier than that?

Twilight Farkle: "Drug dealers' e-cigarettes cannibis risk / Drug dealers are dicing with death to make super-strength cannabis for e-cigarettes."[i.imgur.com image 580x480]This is the second high-profile FUD article about e-cigarettes this week. My stars, won't somebody please think of the tobacco lobby? No, seriously, let's think about this. Lorillard acquired Blu in April 2012 for $135M, and the growth in e-cigs suggests that Lorillard didn't buy Blu just to take them off the market, so this isn't just as simple as "Big Tobacco vs. E-cigarettes," it's more like Reynolds and Altria vs. Lorillard. That thesis doesn't necessarily make sense from a purely economic point of view either, though, because. Reynolds or Altria could easily afford to snap up any or all of the other e-cigarette manufacturers. From a purely business standpoint, this doesn't make any sense. All the major nicotine providers could acquire and develop an e-cig line for peanuts, and compete with each other for customers. And it's not as if the tobacco companies are that opposed to the idea; Altria favors harm reduction too, just not as vociferously as the e-cig manufacturers themselves.Somewhere along the line politics is also part of this equation; just as the corn-producing states have disproportionate influence during the presidential primary process, politicians want the tax revenue from the tobacco companies, and there's a link between that revenue and the relative political power of the tobacco-farming states. Maybe the issue at hand isn't whether people consume nicotine or placebo, but whether they consume their nicotine in the form of burnt tobacco leaves or concentrated nicotine solutions that require far fewer farmers? Maybe the battle isn't between nicotine addicts vs puritans, but between tobacco farmers vs everyone else?Is the exit plan for the privately-held e-cig companies to go public, raise a bucket of capital (which can be used to buy legislators: difficulty, it can't buy as many legisla ...
harrycary: Just to make things clear to the non-pot smoking public.... hash (and hash oil) is made from the marijuana plant. The trichomes from the plant are removed and compressed into bricks as "hash". There are various methods to do this. Bits of this brick are sold in small increments (usually grams), Since trichomes are the main source of THC, hash is an order of magnitude more potent then "pot" smoked in a pipe. Kind of a concentrate. I'm not sure if it's as much more potent as the article suggests tho. But, the new strains of plants are much more potent then what I grew up around (late 70's & 80's)I've heard of using butane in making hash oil but it can be very dangerous/flammable to do so.
frostus: I haven't smoked pot since it went over $25 an ounce. It's gotta be at least twice that now, right?
Treygreen13: ChiWhiteSox_56: I used to smoke, but ever since I hit my 30s pot just makes me have really disturbing thoughts. This oil would probably put me over the edge.I know a guy who loves his e-cigs, and has some of this super weed stuff. He said he didn't know how strong it was when he bought it and was the highest he'd ever been when he smoked it casually. He couldn't even function he was so stoned - apparently just a few puffs was plenty. So, yeah, probably.
bestie1: Also: "dicing with death"Is it even possible to OD on pot? I can't believe it is. You might be higher than fark for a week but can you actually die from that?
