This guy sounds fun.

The people running away with two garbage bags makes me think that the kidnapping was more of a botched murder in retaliation for getting busted. I would be surprised if the "victim" is among the living too much longer.

Shoulda just said he was hit by a car.

2013-09-07 10:50:03 AM
Oh that's right, it was the Lawn police who found him.   They don't care about cars so much.

2013-09-07 10:51:44 AM
Uh oh, they found... cash.

I was thinking the same thing- dead man walking.  That's a lot of product.

being a victim = your home gets searched? maybe a online lawyer can break this down for us.

KrispyKritter: being a victim = your home gets searched?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they guy consented to the search.

Its not so much "Being a Victim" as "Having a Federal Warrant" that triggered the search of his apartment I bet. He's already considered a fugitive, so Search and Seizure rules loosen up considerably.

/ But ya, dumb-ass likely consented anyway.

Probably has more to do with finding out about his federal warrant. He was in court, they find him beaten (probably a botched murder). One of the first things they are going to want to do is find out if your home is safe. That guy had the shiat beat out of him, not to mention he was already in deep shiat for something anyway. The odds that his apartment wasn't going to be searched seem pretty slim to me, but then again, IANAL.

He had a federal warrant.

Well, if someone had a reason to kidnap and beat this guy before, he's going to really be up shiat's creek now that all of his big drug stash has been taken if those drugs belonged to someone else.

2013-09-07 11:09:04 AM
I hate it when that happens.

you deserve whatever you get when you are in that shady business.

with pounds of high end drugs laying around 50K in cash (it was probably 100, but the cops have bills to pay too) I really don't feel any sympathy for the guy.

He hung out with the wrong crowd, or pissed off the wrong people. Sounds like the type of person who no amount of  "help" is going to fix his problem. He will continue to either clog up the legal system, or sell drugs to people continuing the circle of desperation.

First thing the cops do when someone gets their attention, irrespective of the circumstances, is to investigate that person.  Did you just get into an accident that wasn't your fault?  Got a warrant for unpaid child support?  You're going to the emergency room.....and then to jail.

Existing warrant=probably cause for checking the place out further.  If they were smart, they did get a proper search warrant before really tearing the place apart.

Yeah, our "victim" probably got behind on his supplier payments.

It is understandable how this can elude people when bad idea get entrenched in a society, but, um... Dope culture, by any vaguely useful hippie, peace love dope definition, sort of sh*t the bed and slid off it's sell by about 1972.  It's no longer hip or cool, whatever that is this week, fun or escapist.  It's back alley, thug assed, misery farming and both sides of the "War" are making mad bank off of keeping it illegal and if you wanna dive in and take your chances, it's not gonna work out.  Seriously.  Now go sprinkle some bath salts and meth on your 4/20 wet and groove to the sirens and cell block chatter.

The cops around these parts are true ambulance chasers. There is always at least one squad car parked outside the emergency dept at our local hospital. The bastards will gladly write you a ticket while you are receiving treatment.

170 POUNDS of cocaine?

Damn.....

Also taken by police in the seizure were two handguns and three vehicles, two of which police suspect were used to transport "contraband."

They were a Kia, a Scion and a Ford Fiesta, which the police listed as a combined value of $3.4million dollars.

It's almost as if both sides of this cheap little industry are utterly full of sh*t.

Since when is a KIA, a Scion, and a Fiesta worth $3.4 million? Even by cop math that's way off. Maybe they're using Congressional Math™?

Search and seizure rules still apply even if you're a fugitive, unless you're arrested in your home. This guy was arrested blocks away.

I'm guessing the guy said something that caused the cops to believe the guys that beat this victim's ass were in his home. Maybe he knew the guys were going to his house to steal the dope and money so he told the cops the guys might be at his house. The cops go to the house to search for the suspects and see kilos of dope laying around, so they secure the house and get a warrant.

There's a law against getting treatment at an emergency room in your city? There are always cop cars at emergency rooms. Lots of police reports get taken in the ER.

So the lesson here is if you are a wanted drug dealer and are beaten by other drug dealers be sure to go somewhere other than your home where you keep your drugs before calling the cops.

If the cops come to your house where you keep the drugs and you don't give them consent to search it's a quick call to the judge and they will have the warrant before the ambulance gets there.

2013-09-07 11:55:22 PM
how would black trash bags signify a botched murder? to me it sounds like some other drug dealers found out about his stash and decided to rob him. if they wanted to kill him im sure they would have the second they got in his house. I mean... why would you tie someone up and kidnap them if youre just going to shoot them? I bet the guy wasnt even going to call the cops, the article said it was the neighbors who called. The cops probably found out about his warrant and how the drug unit was already investigating him and decided to search his home.

Good thing only the pot, coke, meth, and heroin were pocketed by the LEOs.

You got what you deserved, Matt. You should have known better than to cross us then make us chase you. Especially the part where you made us chase you. Ruined a perfectly good suit.
