Nope, this is the world's most annoying music video.

The song was exponentially more annoying than the video.

I think its just precious that suburban white kids who moved to New York to play dress-up like gritty urban artists are telling people that their life is a lie.

That's not even the most annoying MGMT video.

Seriously, those guys do way too many drugs.

I think you are confusing music video for music.

Absolut Height Advantage: The song was exponentially more annoying than the video.

And it was still better than anything off their last album.

Must have taken them weeks to come up with the music for this song.

I watched this and thought, 'had that video initially aired on 120 minutes in 1993, they would have been indie gods'....but now...you're right, it's just farking annoying.

It's simplistic, but I disagree. Ylvis is winning for 2013, and I am extremely angry at anyone who suckers me in to watch that damn animal video again. It's like the new Rick Roll...

It's gonna be huge.

Ugh - they had such promise.   Oracular Spectacular was a farking phenominal album, then nothing but crap.  I seem to remember seeing an interview just after the second album released where they all but said that they are trying to make music that people wouldn't like...Mission Accomplished!

I think I must be the only person who thinks Congratulations is a masterpiece... far better than the first one.

They're just a ridiculously pretentious band. I saw them play at a concert festival this summer and they had a recorder solo in the middle of one of their songs. A recorder! AVANT GARDE!

Naw, not the only one. It's a rocker.

Nope, I completely agree with you. Congratulations is a totally underrated masterpiece, imo ("Siberian Breaks" alone is perfection). And I think that the singles for their upcoming album "Alien Days" and "Your Life is a Lie" are both great--though it took about 5-6 listens before I truly started to enjoy it. When I saw MGMT in Monterey a couple weeks back, the additional songs they played from the new album sounded fantastic as well. The most irritating part of the show was the crowd chanting for them to play "Kids" for the final song.

I get it: some people like(d) them for their dance-y, synthpop-y songs and they don't understand why they'd abandon that style for weird '60s psychedelia homage. I just find it a bit unfortunate because there seems to be a lot more depth and sincerity in their more recent work--I find all of it extremely enjoyable. I know it's not for everyone, but I don't think it should be panned just because it's so different from their work five years ago.

There was never a farking contest. You win. Period. For life.

I hope you burn in hell.

They farking specifically said in the first god damn album that they hope to make music that you won't like.

And they followed it up with more music that they want you to not like even more.

You can't blame them for consistency. I haven't seen a group this popular and this commercially subversive since Rage Against the Machine.
