The school girl hair band pullback (no farking idea what to call it) was HILARIOUS. He looked like he was prepping to dress up as Liza Minelli after the game.

Yup, certainly the Browns remember their two AFC Championship game from a few seasons ago.  Also their win record for three of the last four seasons was certainly above .500

There was a time where I thought if Sanchez played on a team with some solid talent he would be up to the task of being a fairly competent QB, but nowadays...meh.  The whole "he brought the Jets to two AFC title games" has lost its luster. Makes me think most QBs could have done the same thing with the D the Jets had then.

I still feel a bit sorry for David Carr, though. I'm curious as to how we would have turned out had he not gotten destroyed early in Houston.

Honestly, I think Sanchez might have done alright if he had played for a coach that knew anything about offense.  Rex Ryan can do well with defenses for sure, but DC is his ceiling.  He's no head coach.

Ryan might do well at Kentucky then. SEC needs defense.

Did I tell you guys about the time a couple of days ago when I was waiting on my car at the fancy car wash & they had ESPN on & they were showing the Rex Ryan press conference & I was sitting next to the door so I could hear the music they were playing outside (I told you it was fancy) & the song was Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are?" Aaaaaaah, it was so perfect.

They should put huge murals outside Snoopy Stadium - one of the Butt Fumble for the Jets, one of the Miracle of the Meadowlands for the Giants. Warn fans about what they are going to see.

Thing is, goofy and stupid plays happen all of the time and are forgotten. It wasn't until someone actually coined the term "butt fumble" that this became so hilarious. I almost feel sorry for Sanchez for having to be eternally be mocked for it. But if he were a better quarterback people would have shrugged it off by now.

And, most importantly I think, something like 4 of the 5 starters on that oline were first rounders. Arguably the best oline in football at the time. A great oline can make even a shiatty quarterback look better, and its amazing what it can do for a running game!

It was coined "ButtFumble" in the thread that the game happened about 5 minutes after the fail completed. Someone had made it a Jersey by the game the next week.

Wait, aren't you still clinging to those "NFL championships" the Browns won pre Super Bowl? When there was like 4 teams and three black guys in the entire league?

Yeah, I'd rather have been in the AFC championship 3 years ago then be clinging to that history lesson you call franchise success.

No, I think we'd still laugh about it because it was really stupid. But if Sanchez was actually good, we'd be laughing  with him instead of at him.

I think Sanchez might have done alright if he hadn't turned pro after one freaking season starting in college.  That was one of the biggest example of hubris I can think of in pro sports from the past ten years.

The Jets of course were fools to trade up for then starting a QB with one year starting in college.

Brokenseas: I think Sanchez might have done alright if he hadn't turned pro after one freaking season starting in college.

In fairness, he saw what happened to Leinart almost immediately before him - went from likely No. 1 to barely in the top 10. And that was still when rookies made stacks on stacks, so it's best to get out while the getting's good.

Remember when people were calling Carroll a fool for saying he wasn't ready?

I'm not sure who does within the Jets' organization. I'm pretty sure it's not a case where the HC hires all of them by himself.

That's a terrific thread. I think it's still underrated the play that happened immediately afterwards, where the kickoff returner fumbled the ball directly into a Patriot player's hands for ANOTHER touchdown. Within seven minutes (not game minutes, real-world minutes, which probably includes five minutes of commercials), the game went from "Eh, the Jets look bad but they're still in it" to, and I quote Primitive Screwhead, "HahahahhhahahahhzhhahHahHahahahhahahahahahhahahahha"
