Subby is right. It is better that lettuce cost $1.75 and the health care system picks up the tab for Safeway's externalities.

Hey, if Safeway wants to throw a public temper tantrum and jack its prices above what the market will bear, let em.  It worked out so well for those restaurant owners opposing Obamacare.

By the way, can we do a kickstarter to give out a prize to the first head of a regulatory body to tell a corporate wrongdoer, "No, asshole; you will admit fault and pay the fine or we drag your ass to court and a judge and jury will tell you how much at fault you were by the number of times they double the fine."?
