Still not a good reason.  Now they're never going to get their heroin back.

Was he aiming the handgun at someone or throwing the bricks at orphans heads?  Then no.

What is farking sad is that a 14 year old boy resorted to selling drugs and strapping..... I can only imagine the home he was raised in.  This speaks volumes about our society.

What a sad story of society's failure. The government should have provided him with twice the schooling, a higher limit on the family EBT card(s), and a fire-breathing dragon that could have acted as his bodyguard :(

This morning, the victim's mother, Jennie Henderson, came out and stood in front of the memorial for few minutes eating ice cream and reading the messages written to her son. She was soon surrounded by a group of teen-aged boys, some of whom sobbed.

"I just want them to find who killed them," she said this morning. "He was just a baby."

The culture of crime does not view selling drugs or any other criminal activity, so long as it provides income, as a failure at any age.  Youth, "almost ready to stop doing crime" and other bullsh*t excuses add up to people waving crutches when actions and consequences finally intersect at Victim Plaza.  Making a conscious decision do be a thug and a gun toting, misery selling criminal in 8th grade does not speak to victimhood.  It's speaks to poor business planning skill.  And if you don't know that your kid is moving weight horse and packing at 14, I hope you spent some of the money "he kept finding" on a nice suit and a casket.

Young, dealing drugs, and perpetuating stereotypes is no way to go through life son.

"The exact numbers are... 85% of 165 murder victims in Newark between 2009 and 2010 were known to the criminal justice system before they were killed ("known" meaning that they were arrested at least once before the homicide event)," Braga wrote in an email. And those "victims, had, on average, 10 prior arrests on their criminal records."

I dunno at 14 he is most likely to be charged as a juvenile and not have serious repercussions like long term jail sentences. Besides once you are selling illegal drugs what the fark difference does it make who sells it or who you sell to? I mean seriously you are not going to get less jail time for selling to a 6 year then to a 60 year old.

Of course I did, that is why I think drug felon's should carry an automatic death penalty no matter the age of the offender. I also support complete and total legalization of recreational drug use. Society is never going to stop it, the only thing we can do is make sure there are no repeat offenders or make it an accepted part of society with regulation and treatment available. Recreational drugs need to be treated like alcohol, because the only reason drug dealers use guns is they have no access to contract law.

It is?  Getting into the dope game at 12 is impressive?  Why do we keep worshiping criminals?  Replace "dope" with "porn films".  Impressive.  *shudder*

He was probably just acting as storage for someone else.  I'll wager that, as a fourteen-year-old kid, he was less likely to attract police attention than the rest of his gangbanger friends and was asked to hide the dope.

2013-09-06 10:34:23 AM
I really doubt he stole it or had it fronted. More likely, a higher up the chain guy wanted to stash his big buy "somewhere safe" and figured they'd never get pinched out of the closet in a 14 year old kid's bedroom. Kid goes to school and starts shooting his mouth off about how many millions of dollars worth of weight he's got in his bedroom, word gets around, someone tries to snatch the stash (or confronts him about telling people about it) and kid ends up dead.

If we need sh*t to shut our brains off bad enough to tacitly not only accept, but encourage and depend upon the vile little industry that provides them, maybe the problem isn't dope laws.  Maybe the problem is a world that's so f*cked up we need to shut ourselves off to function in it.

So you recognize that the 'drug emergency' in our country is a manufactured crisis, yet you glibly state your support for an "automatic death penalty" for anyone, no matter their age, caught up in its circle of violence.

And this dichotomy doesn't strike you as the least bit ironic? Really?
