This looks like something a ten-year-old would greenlite.

Just a word of warning: they are absurdly adorable to look at, and make terrible, terrible pets.

Would you expand on that?  I have no knowledge of this breed.  Thanks.

I think they were talking about the otters.  I've heard that Shiba inu are stubborn to train, but other than that are good dogs.

I've read that before but have yet to see anyone with first hand experience that Asian small-clawed otters are terrible pets.  They are actually kept as pets in some countries.  That said, I'm sure there are some pretty big difficulties in keeping them around, but the same could be said about any "exotic" pet.  There's a guy on YouTube who owns several exotic pets, including two otters.  The otters seem fine in his videos, although one of them is incredibly vocal and loud, like a squeaky toy gone insane.

It's a primitive breed so it doesn't care about you in the slightest (which is the best thing about a dog).  They're also impossible to train (with the exception of house training, they're pretty good at that).  They never run out of energy, yet they are intelligent, which means they get bored easily.  They aren't interested in petting or snuggling (at least mine wasn't, and that's the best thing about a cat).

Oh, and I've never seen anything shed like this dog.  I mean it's as if the purpose of the breed was to shed hair.  We'd brush it every other day and and fur just wouldn't stop.  Piles of hair.  Piles of hair in the corner of the rooms, in the laundry, etc. And because of all that hair, it's too hot for it at room temperature.

Screaming, repeatedly and non-stop, with ear-shattering loudness.. sure as hell no cuteness, now!!!!!  Is that ALL they do while awake?!? (mainly just 2 of them with 3rd chiming in at random... but still.. geeeeez! Sounds like they were force-fed pieces of glass)
