Two blades were ripped from the 18m high turbine in the Scottish Highlands and thrown up to 60 yards away after it was hit by 40mph gales. A third was left badly buckled.

Either those windmills are 18 miles high, or they're mixing their units.

What ELSE would destroy them?

Wind is the bull they mess with.  Wind is the horns they get.

In other news, dams get destroyed by water.

"Surely now Highland Council will take notice and remove wind turbines from school playgrounds. This is not an anti-wind farm issue but a safety one," said Stuart Young, chairman of Caithness Wind Information Forum (CWIF).

I'm not sure how big the turbines are they've installed, but a school playground seems like a pretty irresponsible place to put them.  They CAN fail catastrophically, so ideally they wouldn't be around heavily populated areas.  Off the coast seems like a pretty good place.
