What a bizarre situation.

If it's like Iraq, the war will last about five days.  It's the "rebuilding" that nobody mentioned in the run up to war that will cost a ton and go on and on and on.

/If we're going to have another rebuilding quagmire, say so beforehand

2013-09-05 04:32:53 PM
Of course they do- the Sunnis are eager to kill the Shias and oppress the Christians.

That's the question I keep asking: are we going to have to pay for what we break?

Evil minds that plot destruction.
Sorcerers of death's construction.

2013-09-05 04:52:24 PM
There's a condition.  The sheikhs offered to pay for it "if the U.S. is prepared to go do the whole thing, the way we've done it previously in other places" i.e. Iraq.  They put it out there just so everyone knows, we are not doing it for Israel.

America as mercenary put right out there, up front?

Kinda refreshing...

2013-09-05 05:05:43 PM
Well that's one way to prove someone's a whore. Throw the money on the table and see if they take it.

2013-09-05 05:08:02 PM
This is not a good solution to the problem as presented.  Obama should know better.

Let those assholes handle it all then.

Oh, give me a break.  Mercenaries make money out of the deal.  This crap about breaking even.  Meh.
Cmon Feds, think it through.

Yup, that is the John Kerry, male whore, we have known for 50 years.
Where is his sidekick, Ms. Fonda on this?

They said the same thing about Iraq, then we found out that China is reaping the rewards with all the oil contracts WE sent our troops to die for.

It's not going to be anything like Iraq.  It will be a couple days of bombing and cruise missiles and then the existing civil war continues (without further US involvement).

I hated the Iraq War, and the fearmongering that led to it, as much as anyone.

This is in some ways even worse.  They're not even pretending this time!  "Our objective?  Why don't you authorize force first, then we'll tell you?"

Meanwhile John McCain has inadvertently leaked that the plan is to get our foot in the door, and then when Assad continues gassing, to send the U.S. army in, first to knock out Assad, then to fight against the extremist rebels.  Ten more years of war and "rebuilding."

Is this true? I mean, really, some unnamed countries in the region offered to pay us an undisclosed amount to full scale invade Syria. Does that even sound like reality? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.

What if they use gas again? Or attack one of our ships? Or attack Turkey or Israel?

We just need to bomb the fark out of ourselves, then we'd have unlimited money for repairing infrastructure, education, and jobs.

We're still stuck in Libya, aren't we?

Oh no wait...no, I'm getting new information..no, we're not. The deficit is also not out out of control nor were there any American casualties and a brutal dictator is no longer in power. Sign me up for that every day of the week.
