What kind of job do the firefighters working on the Yosemite Rim Fire have? Is it a Yosemite Rim job?

Actually, many hunters are pretty careful about this kind of stuff.  If you burn the forest down that you hunt, you might as well hang up the gun for a few years.

Farking dumbass. Will probably get away with it legally because he paid his 50 dollar hunting license.

Many rim fires are caused by too much hot sauce.

?  How will paying for a hunting license absolve you of a crime?  Am I missing something here where a hunting license gives one the right to commit crimes?

He's not the first guy to get burned by a rim job gone wild. Just ask Johnny Cash - he knows a thing or two about wildfires.

Very careful at what? Setting illegal camp fires? It's illegal for a reason that is actually justifiable.  F'in entitled D-bags.

I'm imagining the rage as if it had been a smoker that lit the fire.  I wonder if these same comments would be here if it had been an inexperienced fireman starting a controlled burn.

Seriously.  How often is it a hunter that starts the fire?  If you're going to go all "Shocker there," please inform the uninformed as to why you aren't shocked that a hunter started a forest fire.  My area of rural NY is overrun by idiot city dwellers every fall, the vast majority of whom couldn't get a proper fire going without a gallon of gasoline and a propane torch, let alone control it if it got out of hand, and I don't recall the last major blaze in my area.  And we've had some pretty dry deer seasons the last 10 years or so.

So not marijuana farmers? I thought that story sounded suspicious. Not that weed farmers are incapable of being responsible, but it seemed a little unlikely.

I had always assumed some sort of campfire gone wrong. Or some sort of tourist/vacationer snafu.

The Cedar fire, one of the worst fires in California history, was started by a moron suburban "hunter" who panicked about half an hour after losing his way.  People died - lots of people.  Thousands of homes were lost.  Heartbreaking loss of 300,000 acres.  I think that retard got probation and community service, if I recall correctly.  I have always been disappointed that someone who lost a loved one or their home did not come after him.

There have been a number of fires in California started by backcountry grow operations.  I had to cut short a camping trip in the Los Padres National Forest a few years ago because of smoke from an accidental pot plantation fire.

Heck, there was a small brush fire in the LA foothills (the Verdugos) not long ago caused by people burning up their plot to avoid getting caught - they must have got wind of the law being on to them and decided to destroy the evidence.  This was in almost plain sight on a hilltop over a freeway that I drive almost daily.  I was impressed that it was so easy to grow right in the middle of a heavily-trafficked area.  Pot must be pretty easy to conceal.

When I was in college in the early nineties I had a Yosemite Sam t-shirt.  Some girl asked me who Yoze-Mite Sam was.  I suspect where she came from in Ohio they didn't have geography, history, or Saturday mornings.

With their fire.  This guy was clearly a dumbass, but most are very careful in this regard for obvious reasons.

Hanging is too good for these pricks who think the laws don't apply to them.  Shove a fire hose up his arse and let 'er rip.

Yeah no on the farmers.  I thought the story sounded fishy too - once I read that this theory came from a local fire chief I immediately called bs.  Just glad they finally have the real story so we don't have to hear about weed-based boogeymen.

You're making baseless accusations.  I can cite numerous gun-related injuries and mishaps that almost exclusively come from people visiting the region from the Buffalo area.  I can speak anecdotally on the influx of poor drivers and rude patrons.  I can tell you first-hand about the drunks who show up and act like they own the place, so it's perfectly fine for them to be barf-drunk at 9am, half passed out, puking in my front yard from a long night of drinking off the no-deer-blues at the rental up the street.  I don't own a firearm.  I don't own a pickup truck.  I live almost exactly in the center of my village, about 5 miles from the nearest camp.  I'm not a hater.  I didn't say you were an idiot.  I said the area is overrun by city idiots.  You seem to be taking offense, so maybe I was including you.  I don't know you, so I can't say for sure, but I can say for sure that there are a solid 500 people more in my town for a couple weeks every year and a large portion of them are the lowest class of people above child molesters.  Not all of them, but a LOT of them.  Some are responsible and well mannered, in fact, it may even be a majority.  The visible crowd is certainly not responsible or well mannered, and they are the ones who fall from treestands and shoot hunting buddies and houses.

I'm not saying mistakes never happen.  Certainly some responsible individuals cause accidents, some even resulting in deaths.

Hunting accidents in WNY, in order of the google search:
City man shot, city man shooter (2nd victim city man fell from treestand):http://rochester.ynn.com/content/news/564428/18-year-old-d ies-in-hunti ng-accident/
PA city man, treestand broke or was unsecured: http://www.wgrz.com/news/article/189097/13/Deadly-Hunting-Accident-in - Chautauqua-County
City man shot, city man shooter:http://www.wkbw.com/news/local/Fatal-Hunting-Accident-1341824 03.html
City man (hunter) struck by train: http://www.all-creatures.org/cash/taah-sh-20041205-3.html

I'm not going to sort through 40 pages, but through 3 pages there are 6 accidents and 5 involve city residents visiting rural areas.  The 6th wasn't linked because it didn't specify the home of the victim or perp, who was charged with Man 2.  No hate involved, just facts that seem to back up my point that my area is overrun by idiots from the city every year during deer season.  I won't even start to point out data about DUI/DWI accidents and infractions that also back up my claim.
