(Huffington Post)   Ryan Gosling turned down a chance to star in Fifty Shades of Grey. Apparently, he didn't want to play the romantic interest to the guy from Sons of Anarchy   (huffingtonpost.com) divider line 21

He probably didn't eat his cereal. He's always grumpy before he eats his cereal.

He's smarter than I thought....

\we've said everything that needs to be said about how horribly this movie will do already

You'd think there's be a market for Ryan Gosling being bound and dominated by Charlie Hunnam.

I don't see why anyone would turn this down. It's a three picture lock! Good paycheck. You're not going to win any Oscars for the role, but I really doubt Ryan Gosling is looking for that kind of thing.

The fat hussy that called security on Anna is going to get a beat down in the parking lot.

I would be part of that targeted demographic...

I have to admit... I actually kind of like that song. I really like the whole soundtrack actually. Anyway... here's a hilarious response to that movie:
Drive: And Illustrated Response

I can tell this theme song, "A Real Hero," is going to be stuck in my head forever. It's really good and catchy, but the lyrics are sung by a girl with weird standards when it comes to what makes dudes worth singing about. "You have proved to be a real human being!!! And a real hero...and a REAL HUMAN BEING!!!" Maybe she's dated a lot of robots?

I did too.  That's why I bought College's EP with it.  The movie was very fun, although I didn't like the part where Gosling gives the puppy dog face after kicking some guy's face in to death.  Interestingly enough, the song was about Capt. Sullenburger.

Simultaneously one of the most gorgeous and romantically filmed movie kisses ever committed to film only to be immediately followed... by... that...

Huh. That actually is interesting.

50SOG casting should be the easiest job in the world.  You just figure out which actresses you'd most like to see naked for 108 minutes of a 120 minute movie and work backwards from there.

Casting the male lead should be even easier.  Just pick the first guy who shows up and make sure he's not in very many scenes.

Because face it: It's going to end up being horrible no matter WHO they pick.  It will bomb, because nobody's going to risk running into their neighbors if they go see it at the multi-plex.  And the only cable channel that will run it will be Cinemax, at 3:30AM.  So they might as well make it worth watching with the sound off.

I'm not sure you're right about this whole shame angle. There are book clubs that read this book. Hell for most it's the first novel they read since school! I've never seen a lady hide the fact they are reading the book. More times than not someone reading it at lunch will have other ladies stop to talk to them.

Now guys on the other hand...

Let me put it this way, this movie will do as good or a little better then the Sex in the City movies.

I'd buy a lot of it! In whatever form it took.

I highly doubt that this movie will bomb.

I feel like girls will go in groups to see it together.

Ooooooooooh. I thought Ryan Gosling was that guy who had all those kids with that biatchy Kate chick. Somehow, I remember his last name better than his first.

I'd sure as hell go to see it.  And buy the DVD.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that this movie looks like it'll actually get made, but I'm always surprised when I hear that it makes progress. The books were awful, but most importantly the books were at least 60% sex scenes. Considering that the average sex scene in a Hollywood movie is about 40 seconds of them flashing a thigh or a face while you get some semi-random song played in the background, I don't see where they could really adapt the book to the big screen. At least not in three pictures, not without it getting a NC-17 rating. They could combine the series into two movies and not really lose anything. Even the porn adaptation had to pull from the second book in order to get a 2 hour length, and that's with all of the sex scenes.

In any case, I predict that this will be universally panned by critics and many viewers but it'll make so much money that Hollywood won't care. It'd be Atlas Shrugged, but with a better box office.

Watching the reactions of such groups might be hotter than the movie.

Any actor with integrity is staying the hell away from this cinematic abomination.
