A Sussex Police spokesman said a 50-year-old man reported being bitten on the forearm as he attempted to rescue the dog, but confirmed he was not seriously injured and did not seek to take action against the dog or the charity.

I guess that's why the people on the train didn't just give the dog a ride instead of shooing it along.

At least he understands that dogs get bitey when stressed.

Lucky the train didn't mow him down.  Poor dog probably all strung out and scared spitless.

That should be "a historic steam railway".

Ranger Joe: Steak pasties?

Obviously you've never been to a strip club/steak house.

Yay! Hometown, hometown! Was on the Bluebell Railway on Sunday, too.

YouSirAreAMaroon: That should be "a historic steam railway".

Yes it should 'a historic' but 'an historic' will not be considered wrong in the UK.

Mastiff cross Marley escaped the Herontye estate home of dog communication expert Dawn Allen, after the canny canine apparently managed to open the front door of the property.

I can't link that photo, but, dog communication expert, my ass. That dog is clearly disgusted to be hugged by that woman and looks like it is spoiling for another chance to make a break for it and run away again.

Well socialized dogs are not usually biters.

Dawn, who is a member of the Pet Dog Trainers of Europe, said she has fostered many dogs from charity Rescue Remedies,

Oh, right. Maybe that explains it.

FTFA:
She was so tired and hungry, and she wolfed down the two steak pies.

Because a dog wouldn't wolf down steak pies otherwise.

A dog who can run 75mph is worth hanging on to ...

I just adopted a Siberian Husky who can do the same thing... so I am getting a kick out of your replies.

But seriously the previous owner didn't tell me he can open doors (inwards and outwards) and he got out into the yard with my two other Huskies first day! Unlike this pup, he was smart enough to stick around for food & pets.

Totally proud of my new buddy (on the left):

Train Operator:  Okay, okay... we know that it won't run under it's own power and we know we can't pull it, but... if we can find a way to push it... [train whistle].
