Hope he gets a bit in the new Star Wars.

There are a few performers whose presence guarantees I will enjoy the movie, no matter how bad everything/body else is.

Simon Pegg is one of those few, along with Peter O'Toole, Linda Hunt, and that blond guy who can take an entire traffic cone.

It would be funny if he got a role in the new movies as a bumbling comic relief sidekick and ruined the whole series. He'd have to rant about himself.

You think so? I thought it went out of its way to avoid that. He was funny, but not at all charming. As opposed to the Hangover-type American movies that are so in love with portraying the development-arrested man-child as cute, cuddly, and adorable.

I think a good bit of the "I'm really that pathetic" in the first third of the movie would be difficult for someone else to pull off.  Simon Pegg is a really underrated comedic actor in that respect.

And part of me thinks they wrote most of that movie as a set-up for that very last scene at the bar with the glasses of water.

What a prankster he is! I remember that prank, before the new movie came out,  when he swore to everyone that Khan was NOT gonna be the villain after all the trekkies biatched about how lame it was that they were rehashing Khan and the movie was getting negative buzz on the internet.  Turns out he was LYING! hahaha! He lied to everyone! hilarious prank!
Oh and that prank he pulled, after the movie came out, when all the Trekkies said Into Darkness was lame because they DID rehash Khan and lied about it, and he told the Trekkies to "go fark themselves." hahaha!

Jesus tapdancing Christ, cry moar and then cry some moar. He lied to you because he realized as a fanboy, your opinions don't matter. You were guaranteed to see it anyway. Abrams led Trekkies by the nose because he knew they were guaranteed ticket sales. And he was right.

Star Trek was stunningly intelligent with Voyager and Enterprise, but fanbois are still crying Abrams dumbed it down? Damn both the new movies are ten times smarter than either of those shows. But hey, cling to your childhood delusions if they are that important to you. Star Trek doesn't care.

Wait a second - I LIKED the first New Trek film.  I've been a Trek fan for years, was dubious, but liked it.  I was really unimpressed with the second.  There were major problems with it that the first one didn't have - why does my having a preference make me a "hater?"

(BTW "haters" is such a dumb term).

And I gotta say, though, that all the stones flung at the original series is really unwarranted.  There would be no reason to make a new TREK series if there hadn't been something about all the rest keeping the universe alive.

The new Trek films really divide where none of the other series or movies did.  If you got a bunch of Trek/sci-fi fans together, they could all have a favorite or least favorite series/episode, but they could all talk about it.  Now, it's one OR the other (like what's happened with MAN OF STEEL).

No, it wasn't, but I'm thinking he was hoping people would notice when signing the waiver.

I'm wondering if actors sometimes are focused on their roles and just sign the form because it's one of those things they may do a lot at times when filming a movie. Somebody please correct me if I'm incorrect!

The Onion:  Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film As 'Fun, Watchable'

Holy cow, the butthurt about Pegg and Abrahms is strong today.  I thought Into Darkness was a little on the long side, and maybe they could have done a few things a little differently.  But it's still a good movie, and despite what a bunch of mouth-breathers at a con say, it's by far not the worst movie in franchise history.

I'm not a Trek fan, but even I know the TNG movies made that a very low bar to hurdle.

/Didn't see Into Darkness but have little desire to see it
