According to officials in Titusville, Woodward had snuck up on his neighbors while they were having a Labor Day barbecue. Police responding to the scene found that Gary Lee Hembree, Roger Picior and Bruce Timothy had all been shot.
Hembree and Picior were later pronounced dead. Blake survived, even though he had been hit 11 times.

 What about Bruce?!

at this rate everyone in Florida is going to wind up killing each other....

CARRY ON

Why are you so quick to judge him. He was feeling threatened which in George Zimmerman's case -meant that he could blow anyone away. You just don't understand gun owners rights.

2013-09-04 04:39:26 PM
You kill your neighbors with the justification you have, not the justification you want.

A legal precedent concerning armed conflict performed by a national entity such as a government is not applicable to this kinda Hatfield & McCoy sh*t!

What the hell?

2013-09-04 04:54:43 PM
The problem isn't his defense, really.  It's that depending on where this is tried in Florida, the prosecution could likely fark it up again.

The motion referenced Enoch V. State, which suggests that an "imminent" threat can include something that is likely to occur at sometime in the future.

...that's the dumbest thing I've heard today.

He's been in the bathtub gin.  Or toilet wine.  Whatever the prison folk call it these days.

He had to do it.  Surveillance photos of the neighbors' yard revealed the presence of yellow cake.

Anything imminent hasn't happened yet. So it would have to be in the future.

Funny enough, I usually only ended up in politics threads from the greenlit page in TF. I have never actually clicked on the politics tab.

Completely stupid. It's pretty obvious that GWB's justifications for war don't apply to conflicts between individuals.

On the other hand, we do have the current VP handing out stupendously bad advice directed specifically at such conflicts.

So, wait, he perceived that, one day, there would be a threat from these neighbors, so, according to this precedent, he was justified in charging their picnic and opening fire?

The fark is going on down there?

I say we drop all current gun laws, and instead create a requirement that you pass an IQ and sanity test before being allowed to purchase a gun.  Non license holders that are caught with a gun will be forced into the foreign legion to invade Syria.

No, he is guilty of murder and his lawyer is desperately trying to create some sort of defense.  No way this moron thought this through and said "yeah, Ima use the Bush Doctrine".

2013-09-04 05:50:01 PM
This should be fun. If it works it basically legalized murder!

Just gotta prove you felt threatened at some indeterminate time and that you might be threatened again.

If that doesn't work the backup plan is: "If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests."

True. No intelligent sane person ever used a gun illegally.

Probably. The job of a defense attorney is to argue a point. If this is the best argument the lawyer can come up with, then so be it, but God help his client.

Or maybe not.

he should have shot black guys.  he would get away with it then.
