Hey Europe, this is why you can't have nice things.

I've been to a half-dozen OSU-Michigan games - one of the most intense, long-standing, and vitriolic rivalries in American sports.  They've never installed fences to separate the two groups of fans.

In 2006 the teams were ranked #1 and #2, and Bo Schembechler - the former Michigan coach who had been the biggest nemesis of Ohio State - died the day before the game.  There was a moment of silence and video tribute at the game in Columbus - the crowd was respectful.  Every living OSU head coach went to his memorial service.

Grow up already.

Yeah, but OSU/Michigan games are mostly upper middle class white people. Spaniards, Italians, and especially Turks are, you know, "those" people.

If the immigrant fans weren't rooting against the Danish team before, they will be now.

They could just ban fans under 30

Yes I'm sure if there was a black baseball team and a white baseball team in Atlanta there would be no trouble at all.

Have you looked at player rosters in Europe?  Every top-tier club team has a player from Africa or Brazil.  TFA is about club matches, not the national team.  Race of the players has little to do with it.

Boston Red Sox fans chant "Yankees Suck".  There may even be a couple of drunken brawls at area bars after the game.  Big whoopty-doo.  But nobody is firing flares into the stadium in the US.  Nobody is running elaborate message boards to coordinate pre-game riots and vandalism.  There's no border control on I-75 between Ohio and Michigan to prevent fans with criminal records from traveling.

That's not an issue.  In Atlanta we don't immediately reduce any foreign team to "those damn blacks".

It's not about the team on the field, it's about the fans who show up. Yeah, there are Protestants on Celtic, doesn't stop the fans from farking shiat up (although it's nothing like the old days). Michigan/OSU fans know they're not all that different. Turks, Spaniards, Italians and Danes are more different than the various college football fans are from each other. So what if the team is cosmo and diverse. It's always been about who the fans are and what they represent. The soccer is just an excuse for everyone to show up at the same place at the same time.

Shockingly enough the US manages to play Mexico quite often without anyone killing each other. Well, when it's in the US.
