Meanwhile the Giants had to practically drag their coach to the plane taking them to Canton for only a few hours for Bill Parcel's HOF induction much earlier in training camp.

Jets get a couple of surprise wins including one over the Patriots. The rest of their season is a disaster and I would bet on one humiliating Jets play this season to rival the Butt Fumble.

The Jets play in one of the biggest media markets in the Nation and have to have a decent budget compared to other teams. Why can't they attract quality front office/coaching people? I read the Gang Green boards occasionally and those Jets fans are passionate about the team.

I can't wait to see them implode this year.  If you find yourself signing Brady Quinn the week the season is starting, you are in for a world of hurt.  Maybe they can get that kid from FSU in the draft next year.

There are a lot of potential wins early (Tampa, Buff, Tenn, Pitt?), but I just don't see it. QB problems aside, is there any reason to think that any other aspect of this team is going to be even above average? They'll probalby run Chris Ivory 30 times a game, but if he was that good he would have separated himself at NO at some point. The WR situation is still terrible, and who are the big playmakers on that defense?

I think it's going to get ugly, quick for the Jets this year.

I literally laughed out loud this weekend when I saw that. And sad thing is? He's probably odds-on favorite to start this week, right? Or are they going to give it to Geno?

I laughed out loud too when my friend told me.  What's even more sad now is that even Tebow would have been a better starter than any of their guys, but they let him go.  All I know is, I picked the Bucs defense this week in my fantasy league.  No way the Jets don't commit at least 3 turnovers in that game.  Hopefully at least 1 goes the other way for 6.

Olbermann called this out last night as another stupid scandal to hit Ryan with. I mean for f sake its not like him being there for a day will suddenly make the jets any worse/better.

2013-09-04 10:36:28 AM
I don't like Rex Ryan, but this "outrage" is way off base. Seriously, he just went to see his son play in a big game. I'd take off work to see my son play, and I imagine most of you would, too. There's a laundry list of reasons Jets fans have to dislike Ryan, legitimate reasons, but this is not one.

As bad as this sounds, I'd love to see Brady Quinn somehow lock on the QB job and do well.

Especially with as two people noted above, at least two NFL head coaches losing sons to suicide/drug use it makes no sense to be all up in a coaches shiat for wanting to be with his son. I mean even if the kid didn't play, he was at least there to cheer him on should he play.

He's one of the most underrated head coaches in the NFL at this point.  He may need a change of scenery but no coach could do better than two AFC championship appearances with Sanchez and Geno Smith is not the answer either.  His media antics keep the heat off his players too which is not easy in New York.

Rex will have plenty of time soon to watch his son play.

The D does look solid, but I wonder how motivated any of the players there are gonna be. Rumor was a lot of them were pretty pissed about the injury to Sanchez. If they (the D) has mostly checked out on the Ryan era, the Jets will be *terrible*.

Hey now, we've only had the kid for one game.  Back off.  We get our three years with him before the Browns run him into the ground.

(By then the Jets will have fired Ryan and brought in a coach who'll have returned them to mediocrity.)

In case you missed it in the Power Rankings thread:

I created an Eliminator (suicide pool) group on ESPN.com

Pick a winner each week, can't repeat teams last farker standing wins.

It's a "Locked" group meaning you can't join once the season's started

Join here:
http://games.espn.go.com/nfl-eliminator-challenge/en/group?groupID=19 7 47&groupp=dGhlamFrZQ==&invitesource=email&inviteuser=NjMyNTYzNzY=&ex_c id=invite-email-eliminator" target="_blank">http://games.espn.go.com/nfl-eliminator-challenge/en/ group?groupID=1 97 47&groupp=dGhlamFrZQ%3D%3D&invitesource=email&inviteuser=NjMyNTYzNzY%3 D&ex_cid=invite-email-eliminator

If that doesn't work go to "Eliminator" under ESPN's fantasy football section and look for

The best thing about the J E S T this year is the D-line. They're probably top 5, as a group. The offense is lulzworthy in its entirety, but don't lump the dline with them.

Rumors, schmumors.  As far as we know "them" is as likely to be a NY-area sports reporter pulling stuff out of his ass as anything.   Case in point.

I'm shocked they didn't pick up Vince Young (yean, THAT Vince Young).  Maybe he would've given him a decent chance to win.

This; they got a bombastic coach who stole headlines every time he opened his yap.  Giants pretty much don't give a shiat about headlines, because for them the only ones that count are those with Coughlin holding up the Lombardi Trophy.

Most of us would just get called into HR, told to clear out our desk while being watched and then escorted off the premises.  All while 'the boss' who had been farking up our work is discretely out of the office, tipping the cart girl half our salary on the 6th tee.

There's enough true stuff you can mock Rex Ryan about without trying to create artificial controversy or just making crap up. No need to drag any National Guard service or birth certificates into this fiasco.

2013-09-04 02:23:32 PM
Why would anyone even want to put up with the local media that covers the Jets? They are hell-bent on tearing in to him, regardless of anything that goes on. 2 AFC Championship games in a row? "Sources say that Ryan needs to pipe down to get to a Super Bowl". Horrible moves by a GM throwing money in all the wrong directions? "Sources say that players don't want to play for Rex Ryan any more". Rex takes the one day he'll have for the rest of the season to watch his kid's first college game? "Sources say that Ryan should have been in the office back home".

Welcome to the NY media, where the "sources" are never listed in any article, and reporters are just free to create absolute bs from thin air to fill out their columns. Why anybody would WANT to coach there is beyond me. Kubiak left the Texans facility on cut day to watch his kid's first football game last Saturday. I'm sure the outrage over that one will begin tomorrow.

While I concur, it seems he is less of an asshole than Kirk Gibson, so he has that going for him.

Making fun of Rex Ryan is just too easy and too enjoyable because he brings most of it on himself. But this has no business being printed in what is supposed to be a reputable mag/site. One of my friends runs a sports blog that looks like a Geocities leftover from 1997 and even he wouldn't print this tripe.

I've noticed over the past 7 or 8 years that hanging out at your team's fan website is way more factual and informative than the big outlets who actually pay people to "inform" us.

Well, at least a couple of people here aren't retarded. Ryan's a solid coach who takes a hell of a lot of sh*t for stuff that isn't really his responsibility/fault. It ain't his fault that there isn't any talent on the team.
