Matt Drudge was never a conservative, and he's probably even more liberal than Sean Hannity is.  There is a difference between people who claim to hate Obama and those who love to hate Obama.  Period.  End of discussion.  Thread locked.

2013-09-04 08:56:29 AM
There's nothing at all libertarian about the GOP.

let's put it this way, the list of people not on the list are shorter than the number of comments in this thread

WHO ARE THEY?!

Same people they always were Matt.  The fact that you're just noticing speaks volumes.

Nothing to see here, really.

The same people they have always been?

I didn't expect the conservative infighting to start with such ferocity right out of the gate. Kind of a pleasant surprise.

Why would anyone vote Republican?

a) Jesus
b) Democrat Party
c) Socialist dictator empty chair Oblahma

At this point the GOP consists of the old and senile, some rich white men gaming the system and a small handful of bloggers with a persecution complex.  If you're a Republican you might want to ask yourself "Which one of these things am I?"

2013-09-04 09:50:49 AM

Jackson Herring: please give reason

Tax cuts for the 1%? Subsidies for billionaires? Racism? Bigotry? Misogyny? Deregulation that leads to environmental disaster? Bloated defence budget? War for oil? Health insurance only for the wealthy? Everybody except the 1% working for chicken feed? Government overreach into the bedroom? Removing a women's right to choose? Preventing marriage equality? ect...

There are so many more reasons to vote GOP, but I'm too lazy to list them all.

2013-09-04 09:50:52 AM
Not that any of this matters. Obama will bomb Syria. The GOP will approve, and life goes on. Our opinions don't really matter much anymore.

Suspect that this is just another step along the path for the establishment GOP to drag itself back toward the center again while shedding the loonies and crazies along the way.

Oh, I see them 'trying.'  Witness the 'entirety' of the establishment GOP agreeing with Obama on military action while Rand Paul and Pat Buchanan are freaking out on the fringe and getting no traction.  This is not an accident.

Political theater aside...the GOP insanity has a certain amount of inertia behind it. The crazies pretty much ARE. The party now. You can't spend 10 years teaching people to hate compromise, fear change and despise moderates then turn around and compromise and change to a moderate viewpoint without shattering whatever unity is left among the republican party power brokers.

Agreed.  But they're still trying.  The only other alternative for them is to accept the slow decline into regional party status.  I hope they fail, mind you, but I can't deny that they're slowly making efforts to appear more reasonable.

Does anybody else like the Chicago-style mix of cheese popcorn and caramel corn?  They sell it at Costco, and I am getting fat off of it.

Might be a case of too little too late. I think the GOP is doomed to a slow death. Or I hope so anyways. They've earned their demise ten times over.

Can I ask why you agree to bomb Syria?  Difficulty: Try not to mention Iran.
