I'll agree with 24 of those, a photo of a bunch of politicians sitting around conference table is not Iconic photos of the men preparing for the raid could be iconic, photos of the raid could be iconic, photos of the aftermath of the raid could be iconic. That photo not iconic.  Iconic photo of politicians sitting around I can think of 1 and only . FDR, Stalin, Churchill at Yalta

I agree , this list was by and large pretty well done.... just about every photo I thought should be there was.

Much like Tom_Slick..... I would take out the Obama and gang 'getting' Osama photo and the Clinton/Lewinsky photo, and replace them with the Yalta photo and the NG photo of the girl with the eyes nobody forgets.

I'm glad they had the child/vulture photo.

But they did not have this:

Came here just to include that one.  I'm not a boxing fan by any stretch of the imagination but the raw emotion in that shot is just mesmerizing.

A version of that photo was in there, there's some kind of problem with the way the gallery is displaying and I suspect the final 5 or so photos aren't showing up for everyone.

Associated Press photographer Nick Ut photographed terrified children running from the site of a napalm attack during the Vietnam War in 1972. A South Vietnamese plane accidentally dropped napalm on its own troops and civilians. Nine-year-old Kim Phuc, center, ripped off her burning clothes while fleeing.

*  The S. Vietnamese purposely dropped the bomb on them because, unlike the VC, their pilots were poorly trained assholes.

*  Napalm doesn't work that way.

But they did not have this:

i thought the child/vulture one was widely accepted to have been staged?

that obviously doesnt detract from the fact no child anywhere should be that thin

These three are not iconic. The Sandy Hook photo doesn't tell any kind of story. There are several pictures from the Boston Marathon bombing that are iconic, and the second one in my post here ain't one of them. Now, the one of the guy being wheeled away with half his legs blown off? That's iconic. As for Lewinsky, that whole business is an irrelevant blip on the historical radar which ultimately changed nothing. That picture isn't an icon of anything.

Growing up I always considered this to be the quintessential photo depicting the horror of Vietnam. Once I finally read that the bullet recipient was running around town guerrilling the sh*t out of the place I had an uncomfortable change of opinion. No one wants to be in that situation but if you are, I suppose you do what you have to do.

I thought.... oh sure the most iconic ever but I must admit after viewing them there was some pretty powerful imagery. Those kids running from the napalm made me pretty sad to think that is what is currently going on in the middle east.
