Nunpoo: Not that it makes it any better or less racist, but said pastor is an African American female.
95629: The pastor that wrote this was a black female. It had nothing to do with her being racist. It had to do with the fact that churches are businesses and they want people with money coming in the doors. Guess who those people are...
Somaticasual: Funny how only one of these articles points out the fact that the preacher is black..If he had been white, it's pretty clear that would have been in size 40, bold font in the headline.//sometimes, you take the low road thinking it's the high road, huh?
wumpus: Aunt Tom looking mother farker.

Rising_Zan_Samurai_Gunman: TFA:Pennycooke then acknowledges the request is a "sensitive situation" and said quality trumps quantity."We would rather have less greeters on the front door if it means that the few that we have will represent us the best," Pastor Pennycooke wrote.Maybe if you want to represent your church the best, you should have an even mix of whites, blacks and other races (if possible) at the door to show you are diverse.

Green Scorpio: This thread is (so far) pretty high-minded and diverse with opinion. Kudos, Fark.I came here to say that I'd be appalled if my pastor tried to tell anyone in the congregation they weren't fit to be there or serve God in the manner they chose. Then I saw the picture of the pastor in question.I'm trying to imagine a mostly black church in a mostly white neighborhood trying to achieve a more balanced diversity in the congregation?/switch gearsI don't think it's about money as one poster above said. Funny when churches engage in this kind of activity looking for white people it's greed. But when schools or govt entities target black people for entrance, it's in the name of social justice.
Mentat: And we don't want the Irish!
Drubell: I'm finding that "controversial" in the news is another way of saying "someone's being a real dick."In this story it can't mean "debatable" because the pastor apologized within 24 hours. So there is no controversy at all; he's just a dick!
Deece: What's the over/under on how many people in here jump straight to assuming the preacher's a white male?/not that they're without precedent...
Kahabut: Hillbillies Rednecks in the back woods are more tolerant.
